Sit Steady In The Boat! 11/18/15
Hebrews 12:15 (KJV)
15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
SIT STEADY IN THE BOAT!
I can still see (in my mind's eye) the wizened old man who intoned those words to me MANY times.
As I sit in my booth at Chick-fil-A on my granddaughter Madison's FIRST day of work here, I hear and see that great man of God afresh.
It is utterly AMAZING the wisdom and learning that can be so easily obtained on the internet, and yes, even FB!
I saw something on FB a few days ago that really struck and stuck with me;
"
A BOAT IS NOT SUNK BY THE WATERS SURROUNDING IT, BUT IS SUNK BECAUSE OF THE WATER IN IT!!!!"
SELAH-THINK ON THIS, PLEASE!
In other (MY) words, keep the WATERS of negativity, evil, criticism, hate, greed, lust, etc., etc. OUT of YOUR boat!!!!!
Jesus did not and does not take US "OUT OF THIS WORLD," but we are IN this world to affect and effect IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 Corinthians 5:9-10 (KJV)

10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
Our HERO, the Righteous and Holy Son of God, Jesus Christ the Lord and Savior, was and IS not afraid of satan because satan HAS and HAD "NOTHING in me!!!"
John 14:30 (KJV)
30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
satan was and is not in Jesus!!!!
Jesus was NEVER of this world!
He was In the world but not of/under this world!!!
We can and are able also to NOT be "in and of" this world!

1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
In my very first Bible, THE MARKED REFERENCE BIBLE, I well remember a tag added at the end of this Verse:

As a teenager, we decided one day to take our dollar store/CHEAP! rubber floats and paddle out to a distant lake island.
After a long and leisurely float, we arrived, BUT as we drug our CHEAP inflatable rafts over the shore bottom, they ALL went flat-WE LET THEM and the necessary AIR "LEAK OUT!"

AS A LEaKING VESSEL!!!!!!!!!"
It was only by the Grace of God we were able to safely SWIM back!!
WE are SURROUNDED by overpowering WATERS of hate, fear, depravity-the "THINGS OF THIS WORLD."
The KEY is to NOT allow these evil "waters" entrance into our very beings!
TODAY-SIT STEADY IN THE BOAT!"
The BOAT OF SALVATION!!!
satan "HATH NOTHING" in YOU!!!!!
