| Grilled Fruit and Veggie | Summertime is grilling time and there are so many recipes that are ideal for this time of year. Sure, hamburgers, steaks, and barbequed anything are cooked on the grill all year, but the fresh produce that is so abundant in the summer is, to me, the gem of the summer grilling season. Since it is so hard for me to pick just one great grilling recipe for fresh produce, I am including one for veggies and one for fruit.
If you have never had grilled fruit, you should make it a point to try this Grilled Peaches recipe. Serve it on top of a salad or as dessert with a bit of ice cream-delish! Of course, all alone, it is a wonderful treat.
There are so many great choices for the grilled vegetable category. However, corn on the cob is such a summer staple and sooo good when grilled, I had to choose this recipe for Grilled Corn-on-the Cob. |

| Outdoor Accessories | |
Outdoor living accessories make great gifts! Wedding, birthday, and even Christmas shopping is so much easier when you don't have to rush at the last minute. With so much summertime entertaining and outdoor dining, you'll probably hear one or two people say that they'd like to have a particular thingamajingy, but by the time the occasion rolls around, you'll never remember what it was.
One of my favorite accessories is this Fruit Infusion Pitcher. Fruit is placed in the center cylinder where it remains when you pour. The flavor, however, has blended into your beverage. Great for spa water with lemons or cucumbers... Or mint, peach or raspberry tea... Or, how about jalapeno-infused vodka? Let your imagination go and see what flavors you come up with.

But, I'd also love to get one of these Hand-Painted Lanterns or one of these Hand-Blown Glass Garden Art pieces as a gift. The Hand Painted lanterns were the gift of the season last Christmas. We had customers ask us to send them all over the country! |

| Replacement Slings and Umbrella Parts | |
Do you know that we can get replacement slings for your outdoor sling furniture? If you have purchased a good quality sling patio set and your slings are looking old and worn, do not throw your furniture away! Like buying new tires for your car, replacing slings or straps (yes, we can do that, too), is a maintenance procedure that must be performed from time to time over the years-but it's worth it.
If you purchased your sling patio set from another casual furniture store, we can more than likely get replacement slings for it, as well. Unfortunately, there is some outdoor furniture on the market which we can't repair. If you are in doubt, bring it in and we'll evaluateit.
Don't want the hassle of installing the new slings? No problem! We can do that, too. We'll even clean the furniture so it looks as good as it can short of a new paint job (which can be done, as well, if that is your wish). It's almost like getting new furniture. And, that's why you bought that good quality furniture in the first place, right?
How about your umbrella? Are you ready to toss it because of a broken rib? Don't do it! If, and this is a big if, you purchased your umbrella from Casual Living, or another specialty outdoor furniture store, there is a very good chance that we can get replacement parts for it and repair it for you. Once again, if you're not sure, bring it in and we'll take a look. We like to be the hero. We'll tell you if you can save yourself some $$$ by having yours repaired.
So, snatch that umbrella or sling chair from the grasp of your dump-bound spouse and bring it in for us to look at. It may just need a little TLC from the patio furniture doctors at Casual Living.

| Outdoorlicious Movies | |

When's the last time you watched a movie outside? There's something about it that screams summer evenings. Remember drive-ins? Just how many friends did you sneak in Mom and Dad's big ole car? Any chance you remember the name of just one of those movies-or were you preoccupied? You know, you can create your own outdoor theater at home. More and more people are deciding to purchase their own equipment, but if that's not for you, it is available to rent for special occasions. Check out Fun Flicks for rental packages.
If you want your children to have the outdoor movie experience that you enjoyed as a child, why not take them to Zoovie Nights at Riverbanks Zoo? They've already started for this season but they continue through July 27. Movies are held on Friday nights at dusk. General admission tickets are $5.00.

| Stay Cool And Refreshed | |
The big question of the summer is how to stay cool on a typical South Carolina summer day and not look wilted or feel as though you are melting. Although we all sing the praises of Mr. Carrier in the summertime, (and keep our fingers crossed that our air conditioning doesn't have a meltdown), it is necessary to be outside some of the time. And, let's face it, although we prefer being cool, sitting inside all summer is no fun. Here's a little do-it-yourself project that you can use to help stay cool and refreshed this summer: create your own refreshing summer herbal sprays.
Simply take a clean spray bottle, fill it with water and add a few small slivers of cucumber and, voila, you will have a cool mist when you need it. You can also take a few springs of various herbs, like mint or lavender, and create a scented spray. Lavender and mint also have aromatic properties which insects tend to dislike. For a party, use small spray containers (readily available at the drug store to be used for travel), add pretty labels, and set out on a tray for your guests. You can recycle the containers, or let your guests take them home as a gift from you. |
