American Craft Beer Week

Beer weeks are giving craft beer fans across the U.S. ever-increasing options to enjoy and share the beverage they love. Beer weeks celebrate the culture and community of craft beer, and give breweries and beer businesses the opportunity to connect with the fans.

The Brewers Association, the national non-profit association on behalf of the majority of today's U.S. breweries, and publishers of CraftBeer.com, celebrate the culmination of these events each May with American Craft Beer Week (ACBW), The Mother of All Beer Weeks. This year,  ACBW will be held May 16 - 22, 2011 and offers an exciting opportunity for small and independent craft brewers and the community of better beer retailers to feature craft beer in their community. Plus, tens of thousands of today's beer beginners, beer enthusiasts, and hard core beer geeks make time to toast the week.

Big Shikes Orange Blossom Imperial Pilsner Beer Release in denver

 monday may 16th at 5:30pm

  Big Shikes

We are excited to kick off American Craft Beer Week with the release of Big Shikes Orange Blossom Imperial Pilsner. The beer will be released as the 18th offering in Ska's Local Series and will be on tap exclusively at Old Chicago restaurants around the state.  Westword's Colorado Beer Man, Jonathan Shikes, provided inspiration and worked on the recipe with Ska, and actually flew in from Denver to help brew the beer.

The Big Shikes will be tapped first at Old Chicago's LoDo location in Denver on Monday May 16th at 5:30pm, at an event featuring Mr. Shikes himself, as well as Ska's Head Brewer Thomas Larsen and the Brewer's Assocation's Julia Herz, Craft Beer Program Director and founding force behind American Craft Beer Week.  As part of the celebration we will also be signing the Declaration of Beer Independence which was authored by Julia Herz.

Come celebrate American Craft Beer Week and sample the Big Shikes!  You won't want to miss it because once it's gone, it's gone!
