Sunday Service October 5: Celebrating Talents

We are a diverse congregation in many ways, filled with gifts, interests, and challenges.  While we tend to mostly connect on Sunday mornings, that does not need to be so.  Christiane will present a sermon on how to celebrate and value our individual contributions, be they obvious strengths or even apparent weaknesses.

Sermon:  Rev. Christiane Heyde

Christiane's Contemplations
Now You See Me, Now You Don't!
I am entering a busy time in my schedule and want to let you know where I will be.  I usually get one
Sunday off a month, and still work in the office on Mondays and Tuesdays.  There are also times when I need to attend meetings outside of this congregation, and the coming month has a few of these in the schedule.  Twice a year, the ministers in the district of the UUMA (Unitarian Universalist Minister's Association) get together for a training retreat, usually in California.  I missed their Spring get-together, and plan to join them this fall, from September 29th through October 2nd.  I will be here the Sunday before and after, but will not be in the office that week.  On Saturday October 4 is a UUJAZ workshop in Surprise, AZ, which I hope to get to.
My Sunday off is October 12, since I will walk in the annual Tucson AIDS Walk that day.  Many of you know that my oldest daughter died of AIDS, so that is an important day for our family to walk and honor her.  I will be in the office on Monday October 13, but have a meeting of the Arizona ministers and church staff in Chandler the next day.  That following Saturday is a UU event on Stewardship in Tucson.
Do you see what I mean by a complicated schedule?  I want you to know that I love this congregation and want to be as responsive as possible.  Come to me with your ideas, hurts, inspirations, and complaints.  I promise to make time for you and to have an open ear and heart for you.  Please be patient as I juggle this odd schedule for the next few weeks.
With much Love,
Rev. Christiane Heyde
