The birth narrative of John is different from the other gospels. Gone are the barn and the manger, the Holy Family, the shepherds, angels, and wise men. Today is the day when we usually celebrate the arrival of the gifts with the magi. But in John there is no gold, frankincense, and myrrh. No, gifts. What was John thinking? How can we celebrate Christmas without gifts?
Well John did not skip the presents, it just looks that way. In fact, there is a big gift here in our text (John 1:1-18).

Disciples Women

Applications for the 2018 Woman-to-Woman Worldwide Journey to Cuba are now available. The trip will be October 19-November 1, 2018. The deadline to send an application to the Virginia Regional office is January 25, 2018.  The applicant chosen for Virginia will need to meet candidate guidelines. If you are interested in applying, please see Madelyn Logan, District XI Director of Disciples Women.  Our region supports the candidate with a $2000.00 gift.
