Did you know the Sloan PTO........
  • finances the field trips and related bus needs for each grade?
  • organizes and funds the monthly school assemblies?
  • pays for the 5th grade farewell and the busing for the Deer Valley trip?
  • funds Field Day, the Duck Race and our Family events?
  • contributes money toward events such as Math Madness & Science Olympiad?
  • purchases the student planners that are provided for grades 3-5
W ithout the financial support of our families, friends and community thru fundraising, we risk losing our enriching programs, events and activities.  The number of fundraisers has been  significantly reduced , and we will focus on ONE PRIMARY FUNDRAISER and continue with several TRADITIONAL FUNDRAISERS.

Our primary fudraiser is our 2nd Annual Dance-A-Thon on Friday, October 30th during school hours . Last year's first ever Dance-A-Thon was a tremendous success, raising almost $12K in the spring, even after all other fundraising events throughout the year.  This year, we've moved the event to the FALL (to ensure we raise the money to support our needs throughout the school year) and have a goal set on raising $16,000.  Please keep this in mind as you consider your pledge and consider seeking pledges from others such as relatives, friends, neighbors and co-workers.

We will continue to offer several traditional fundraisers that provide a good or service to the parents & students, while Sloan receives a portion of the proceeds.  These include:
  • Fall Book Fair - our Monster book fair just wrapped up on Friday, 9/18 and was a monstrous success.  The children love visiting the book fair during their library time to purchase books.  Families can donate a book to their child's classroom or the library, and Scholastic donates new books to our library based on sales volume. The Book Fair will return in the SPRING and Kindergarten classes will attend.
  • Clothing Sales - going on RIGHT NOW; this is your ONE opportunity to purchase Franklin Regional/Sloan apparel. DEADLINE is 9/25 and this will not return again until next Fall. Order forms were sent home with the students last week AND can be found on the PTO website        Questions? Contact Sue Salata at .
  • Spirit Sales  - this is our opportunity to promote school spirit and the first one just ended!  The students are able to purchase spirit items such as pencils, stickers, water bottles, terrible "panther" towels, stampers, blue& gold beads, and much, much more.  This event is LOVED by the students and will return on January 14th & 15th and March 10th and 11th.
  • Holiday Shop - an oldie but goody that has been around Sloan since the 1980's! With the help of our parent volunteers, students have an opportunity to select and purchase their own holiday items for family members.  There is so much excitement around this event, and its always fun to see what the kids choose. Watch for this December 7th through 11th.
  • Bake Sales - it is always a SWEET deal when our talented parents contribute sweet treats for us to sell for pure profit during Open House and other events.
  • Box Tops - this is a school-wide collection of Box Tops from product brands such as General Mills, Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Huggies, Ziploc, Scott, Hefty, etc. to generate cash rebates for Sloan. Start collecting NOW for our drive that will occur February 5th through 19th.  Don't forget to ask friends, relatives and neighbors to collect too! The more we collect, the more we cash we earn.
Free Money (say whaaaat?)

DOUBLE YOUR DONATION - did you know that many employers offer "corporate matching gift programs" for primary education? Local participants include: Alcoa, BNYMellon, PNC Bank, Highmark, Heinz, PPG Industries, Westinghouse, and the list goes on.  This is an opportunity to increase your donation at no cost to you - check your employee website or ask your HR department.  Many companies will direct you to, and with a couple of clicks, you are 2x as generous!

CORPORATION CONTRIBUTION PROGRAMS - do you have a Giant Eagle Advantage Card?...a Shop-N-Save Perks card? ....a Target Red card? .....are you an Amazon or Amazon Prime member?  If you answered yes to any - or ALL - of these, did you know that Sloan can earn cash, goods and/or services from all of your purchases?  All you have to do is register your rewards card/credit card/account and link it to us!

Earning points is simple!  Check out more information on the programs below, or visit for more information and "how-to" flyers.  You may also contact Laura Pasqualini, Corporate Communications Chair at 724519-7277 or or Kelly Thomas at
