April has been an exciting month for us. We were
recognized by the Rockville Mayor, Rockville Chamber of Commerce and Rockville Economic Development, Inc. for
2018 Business Appreciation Week. This is when a select number of businesses are recognized for supporting the economy, job growth and helping to make Rockville, Maryland a great place to live and work.

I am heading to Texas in May for my first board meeting of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Joint Trial Board. I am excited to be appointed to this prestigious board and am looking forward to meeting the other board members that are all CPA's from across the country. I'll share more in next month's newsletter.
This month our first article is about the importance of small businesses using a budget for financial insight. If the thought of creating a budget is too overwhelming for some, we give tips on "Chunking it Down" to small tasks. Our articles of interest include 2018 tax return filing statistics and Earth Day. Have you ever wondered how many tax returns are filed during any given week and why do we celebrate Earth Day?
Too many small business owners do not invest the time in budgeting. In the start up phase of a business the focus is on expenses and what amount of capital or funding is needed to get up and running. Once the business is operational the need for tracking expenses is not forefront any longer.
Various events are held annually on Earth Day across the globe to show support for protecting the environment. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day takes place worldwide on April 22. Spring 1970--- a time when it was still legal for factories to spew noxious fumes into the air or dump toxic waste into nearby streams.
