Should You Buy a Franchise?

Franchising is not for everyone. But for an individual who has limited business experience or someone who enjoys working within an established system, franchising can be the best possible path toward owning your own business.

The SCORE organization provides a wealth of information about buying a franchise.

What Franchise is Right for You?  Don't buy a SUBWAY franchise just because you like their sandwiches. You need to know more about the business -- like having to get up in the pre-dawn hours to bake the bread!

One way to find out which franchise best matches your goals, skill set, and lifestyle is to connect with organizations that specialize in this match-making. Two that do this are FranNet and The Entrepreneur's Source.

SBC Client Business Spotlight

Eric Renninger served in the Air Force as an aerospace equipment mechanic. Most recently, he worked as an engineer with a military contractor, directing large-scale construction in Afghanistan. When he returned last summer, Eric began looking for something to do on his own, hoping to build a business that would leverage his experience as a team leader with his passion for cars. An introduction to Honest-1 Auto Care seemed a perfect fit -- a new, rapidly-growing, military, female and family-friendly auto repair franchise. Eric bought in as regional developer and is now looking to sign on 20-30 franchisees in his North Carolina area.
