Global Youth Services Day

Every year, the Smithtown Youth Bureau is proud to recognize the community service projects that have been completed by our thoughtful youth citizens. Spread the information so we can recognize all of our selfless youth in our town!
 
*Our High School Creative Writing Contest winners will also be announced during our Global Youth Services Day event!
 
Applications are due by Friday, April 4th at 5PM.
 
Suffolk County Anti-CyberBullying Campaign
Through the collaborative efforts of the Suffolk County Youth Bureau, the Suffolk County Youth Board, and CAPS (Child Abuse Prevention Services), the first county-wide anti-cyberbullying campaign will be launched in an effort to educate and sensitize our youth to the issues surrounding bullying.

After this rough and tough winter, we have made it to spring! We are hoping this season is filled with sunny days and warmer temperatures. Many exciting things are in the works for our summer programming and we can't wait to share it with you. For now, have a look at our website for any information not found in our newsletter.

National Stress Awareness Month
April is National Stress Awareness Month, a time to unwind and relax from all the stresses of your life. Testing is a hot topic right now and it is important for youth to know how to unwind and relieve the stress that is causing them problems. For tips and tricks to relieve stress in youth, click here.

Spring Programs Are Blooming
Please sign up ASAP to make sure you have a spot.

Homework Help is designed for students who have specific questions on how to do their homework and can receive general academic support. Computers will NOT be available. High School volunteers may apply.
Dates/Time: March 17 and April 7 from 6-7:30PM
Location:  Community Room at Horizons Ed. Center
         161 E. Main Street, Smithtown (Back Entrance)

CPR Certification is for high school students looking to become certified in CPR. The cost of this is $50.
Date/Time: April 19 from 5:30-8:30PM
Location: Community Room at Horizons Ed. Center
                  161 E. Main Street, Smithtown (Back Entrance)

Art Expression is for high school students who want to learn about expressing themselves through art.
Dates/Time: Tuesdays April 22 through May 27 from 4-5PM
Location: Community Room at Horizons Ed. Center
        161 E. Main Street, Smithtown (Back Entrance)

How2Study is for grades 3-5, 7-8, and 9-12 and will cover study and organization skills for students.
Dates/Time:
-Grades 6-8: April 14 and 21 from 4-5PM
-Grades 9-12: May 5 and 12 from 4-5PM
Location: Community Room at Horizons Ed. Center
                  161 E. Main Street, Smithtown (Back Entrance)
 
College Prep is for grades 9-12 and parents and will cover college essays, financial aid, etc.
Dates/Time: May 7 from 6:45-8:00 pm.
