Brookwood Elementary started a before-school Makerspace Club this year to give students a place for hands-on activities to explore, create, invent and design as they engage in science, engineering and tinkering. Third through fifth graders
have learned about aerodynamics and hydrodynamic air cushion vehicles by making hovercrafts, explored circuitry, built a cardboard/recyclable city, and learned about chemical reactions with American Chemical Society (ACS) kits donated by Dixie Chemical. Grades K-2 will begin their sessions in April. Thank you to Dixie Chemical and Lakeshore Learning for your donations and to the Clear Creek Education Foundation for the Makerspace Kit grant.
