Snow Alert

Dear Friends,

The City has over 350 snow removal vehicles working on main streets throughout Chicago. Snow plows and salt spreaders are focused on salting and clearing arterial routes and Lake Shore Drive. Once the snow stops and main streets are safe and clear, snow plows will redeploy to neighborhood and side streets.     This is likely not to begin until late tonight or even tomorrow, depending on when the snow stops.

Thank you to all residents who have helped clear sidewalks and alleys.  Please recall that the city does not clear alleys, and it is each of our responsibility to shovel our sidewalks, up to the corner.

A special thanks to those who have lent a helping hand to elderly or disabled neighbors.  If you would like to volunteer to help residents right in our area, one good way to do so is to contact Lincoln Park Village and let them know you'd like to help shovel a sidewalk for someone needing help.   Or contact our office if you need a hand clearing snow from your sidewalk and we'll connect you with volunteers.

Our Streets and Sanitation crew would also deeply appreciate it if you could clear snow from around your trash cans to make it a bit easier for them to remove the trash beginning on Tuesday.  Due to the adverse weather, it will take longer for crews to reach all the cans, and trash pick-up could extend into Wednesday or even Thursday.  Thank you for your patience as our crews work hard for you.

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a blizzard warning in effect until midnight tonight. Please stay safe and be careful if traveling outside.

Meanwhile, enjoy the Super Bowl!

Sincerely,

Michele Signature
