Guided Snowshoe Hike Series 2018

Hike Nova Scotia and 38 host organizations across NS have partnered to offer over 65 hikes this winter. Hikes are led by local folks and participants qualify to win "trail prizes." Most are free and require pre-registration unless otherwise indicated. We thank our partners for organizing the hikes on the ground as well as Goose Lane Editions and the NS Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage for their support.

Good Robot Brews for Hike: Feb. 12

The Goodwill Bot: Hike Nova Scotia event will take place at Good Robot Brewing Co. in Halifax  (2736 Robie Street) on Monday, February 12. Join us for a fun night of talking hikes and enjoying brews! $1 from every pint sold throughout the day will be donated to Hike NS.  From 5 to 8 pm, Hike NS will be onsite with water-bottle beer pong and hiking sock puppet-making. There will be prize giveaways and sales of Hike NS t-shirts and trail mix.

Take Action for Protected Areas

The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society has launched a campaign to help protect Nova Scotia's protected areas. The mining industry is actively lobbying for access to protected wilderness areas, asking for a change in legislation that could open-up all protected wilderness areas in the province to mining activities. Please lend your voice to efforts to oppose such an ill-conceived proposal.
Seeking 2019 Summit Co-Host

Hike NS is now seeking applications to co-host the 2019 Hiking Summit, with a deadline of February 16, 2018. A celebration of hiking culture, t he Summit moves to a different part of the province every year to support the local hiking movement and highlight local trails and attractions. With 200 people expected, such an event is also an economic boost to a community. Download the application here

Online Auction Success

Hike NS is sending out a very special thank you to The Trail Shop - our Official Outdoor Retailer - for its support of our Hiking for the Holidays Online Auction in late November and early December. Our goal was to raise $1,000 by auctioning off items donated by The Trail Shop and we did it! Thank you to everyone who participated in the auction and to those who supported Hike NS with their winning bids.
