Snyder Taking Sober Look at Grudge Match Against Martin This Saturday at Fillmore Detroit

"It took me a little longer to grow up," admits Sparta, Michigan, MMA veteran Kameron Snyder. "I've been sober from alcohol for six months on Friday and it's really helped me with my training and dedication. I'm in the best shape I've ever been in."

Snyder (29-14) will need his newly found focus when he takes on his arch rival, Traverse City's Derek Martin (18-8) in a long-awaited grudge match for the Impact Fight League 155-lb Lightweight Championship this Saturday, November 2, 2013.

The highly anticipated battle will serve as the main event of Donofrio Entertainment and Impact Fight League (in association with the Fillmore Detroit) IFL 58 "Brawl in the Fall" mixed martial arts event at the Fillmore Detroit.

"He thinks he's Superman," said Snyder of opponent, Martin. "He thinks he's one of the top fighters in Michigan and he's way too cocky about it. He irritates me. He's been saying I've been running from him for a couple years. A couple times, we were supposed to fight and for different reasons, it didn't happen. He said I was making excuses because I'm scared I'm going to lose. He's about to find out he underestimated me. If he hits me, I'll hit him twice as hard."

Tickets for IFL 58 "Brawl in the Fall" are priced at $100.00 VIP, $25 Mezzanine, $35 Sections B & C and $15.00 General Admission. General Admission seats are available by calling (248) 770-6000. Mezzanine and Sections B & C seats are available at all Ticket Master locations and the Fillmore Box Office. VIP seats are available by calling (248) 770-6000. On fight night, the action starts at 7 pm.

20-year-old Snyder has a lot riding on this fight. Not only will it be against his fiercest competitor, but also his final as an amateur mixed martial artist. He has made the decision to turn professional next year.

Helping him prepare are Coach Bowe Vincent from Humble Warriors Fight Team in Cedar Springs, strength and conditioning coach Michael Byle and his team at Monroe Fitness in Grand Rapids and Glen Bailey at American Muscle MMA in Rockford.

"I train two times a day on top of working a 40-hour per week roofing job. Last year, I weighed 185 lbs and now I'm down to 155 by training hard and using that Body by ViSalus product. This is a big fight. We're both good fighters in Michigan and we're both well-known and we have 60 fights put together, easily. It's going to be interesting."

Whatever the outcome this Saturday, Snyder is now winning his most important battle.

"I was caught drinking underage by the police seven times. I wasn't putting in the dedication I should have been. But that's behind me now. I'm happy where I'm at in my life and I've never been as physically and mentally ready as I am right now.
