Join us for a Shabbat dinner, and invite your friends of all backgrounds! We work on five very diverse campuses, let's all get together and celebrate our large community! In addition to our regular Shabbat prayers, we will be leading interfaith discussions that look into how our cultures are similar, different, and what we can learn from each other.

When: Feb 21 @7pm
Where: SJSU Campus

There has NEVER been a woman under 30 years elected to United States Congress, that is what brought Erin, 25, to run for congress and to deliver on the promise of her generation. When too many of us are being ignored, excluded, and discriminated against, it is our time to not only mobilize on the streets of our hometowns, but also in Washington.
As the white house said, Erin "is a dynamic, passionate and ambitious young woman committed to creating big change everywhere she goes."

**The event is in partnership with ADL

Lunch and Learn: Are there Arab Jews?
When: Feb. 23 @noon
Where: Hillel

Why do we use terms like Mizrahi or Ashkenazi instead of Arab or European? Explore the intricate fascets of Jewish identity and the Jewish narrative with me! Skyping in a special guest (of Middle Eastern Christian descent, converting to Judaism in a heavily Ashkenazi community--intersectionality incarnate).

When: March 23 @5
Where: Hillel

An interactive workshop to learn how to recognize and respond to hate speech in its many forms.

The U.S. has the broadest protections for free expression in the world, ones that even protect bigoted and hateful speech. However, there are ways that individuals can exercise their own free speech rights to respond in a constructive way that calls out corrosive sentiments and promotes a nuanced dialogue on issues of race and religion. Case studies will include anti-Semitism and anti-zionism.

The event is Co - Sponsored by Hillel of Silicon Valley, and The Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

JFS Food Drive for Refugees
January 15th through February 26th
Refugees in our community need your emergency food help!

Help JFS collect and distribute food to benefit refugees in our community who are facing food insecurity.  Look for the food collection bin in our lobby and help us provide emergency food to these hard working newly arrived families.

We greatly appreciate your contributions of the following non-perishablefood: basmati rice, tomato paste, oil (canola or olive), pinto beans, lentils, jam, honey, spaghetti, tuna packed in oil, loose tea, and halvah packed in a container.

This year JFS' funding for emergency food is greatly reduced due to the FEMA Emergency Food and Shelter Board reducing its allocation to Santa Clara County. Once JFS' YA-LIVE! group of service minded young adults learned of this need they joined together to create this food drive for refugees.
