Learn More About the SSA Player Pathway

In continued efforts to align to the National movement, SSA has been hard at work tailoring and creating a pathway for all soccer players in the province. With a focus on full participant inclusion on the grassroots level, to training and competition for players and coaches aspiring to participate on the most elite levels in the world, this pathway is a huge step in bringing the SSA Strategic Plan to life. Released in 2014, this pathway outlines the future development of programming within the province and is driven by the principle of Participant-centered opportunities.

Member Education Training for Formal Complaints, Discipline and Appeals:
March 22 North Battleford

At the request of Membership, SSA is working closely with the Sport and Law Strategy Group to revise policy, develop education sessions and recruit candidates from across the province to support the management of formal complaints. This training process will assist organizations to manage various types of formal complaints more effectively, including discipline, appeals, harassment, conflict of interest, code of conduct violations and dispute resolution

All Member Organizations are invited to send delegates to the event which will take place March 22 in North Battleford. Individuals who have an interest or expertise in this area are invited to become a part of our advisory group that will support the consistent and effective management of complaints province-wide and, also, may act as a resource for Members where expertise is not yet in place locally or when conflict may impact the local process. We are also looking to identify those who have an interest in becoming trainers.

Those organizations where complaints are prevalent are expected to have key volunteers at the training. Those attending should be individuals who will lead this area on a local level.

For more information contact Lara Schroeder. Please Register by March 12, 2015.

High Performance Stream Update

SSA Announces its First Centre of Excellence in SK

The Saskatchewan Soccer Association (SSA) is very pleased to announce Astra Academy from Saskatoon as the first organization to meet the rigorous requirements of sanctioning as an SSA Centre of Excellence (COE). This announcement ushers in a new era in player development in Saskatchewan and is the first step in creating a provincial network of sanctioned training environments designed to provide all dedicated Saskatchewan participants with access to standards-based High-Performance training and competition initiatives.

"Envisioned as a 'network' of dedicated development centres resembling a 'web' throughout Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan's soccer participants are provided a dedicated province-wide pathway in which to reach their goals. Sanctioning of Saskatoon's ASTRA Academy is one of the first steps in placing Saskatchewan on the National High-Performance map.", says SSA High-Performance Stream Manager, Coach Terrol Russell.

COE's are focused primarily on advancing the self-driven athlete and coach toward to higher levels of play (i.e. national teams, semi-professional and professional teams and high level collegiate teams) and providing Saskatchewan's High-Performance participant with a dedicated, deliberate, and complex training environment to develop within, delivered by qualified coaches and supported by appropriate competition, sports medicine and science, and technology.

The SSA would like to congratulate and commend Astra Academy on its commitment and contributions to high performance soccer in Saskatchewan and desire to be aligned with the SSA High Performance Stream.

For more information about the Centre of Excellence initiative and the High Performance Development Centre, check out the SSA Website or contact Coach Terrol.
