THE BANNER
The Choir of The Church of St. Michael & St. George will sing a service of Solemn Evensong Sunday evening at 5 PM. The service will include the Evening Service in B-flat of Charles Villiers Stanford and music of Sir Edward Elgar. Please plan to join us for this beautiful, contemplative liturgy to mark the ending of the day and we enter in to Epiphanytide. Incense will be used at this service.

Church School teachers please remember that there is a brief meeting at 8:30 AM in the Taylor Room. A light breakfast will be provided for you and your children. Bring your 2018 calendars!

Monday, January 8
MONDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY: "Mothers of the Messiah" - The arrival of Jesus Christ came as the fulfillment of centuries of preparation and promises God made to Israel. Join us to explore the lives of the foreigners, queens, and other women in Jesus' ancestral line from Eve to Mary. All ladies of the parish are invited to come as you are available from 9-9:45 on AM Monday mornings in the Armstrong Room.

Tuesday, January 9
CHURCH SERVICE LEAGUE will resume on Tuesday, January 9, with the following schedule:
10:30-11:30 AM: Bible study, "Redemption in the Books of Moses" led by the Rev. Peter Speropulos; 11:30 to Noon: Holy Eucharist, St. Mary’s Chapel; Noon: Lunch, the Great Hall. Lunch costs $7. Reservations are required by Sunday evening, January 7, to Lynne Roney at lynneroney@sbcglobal.net or 314.727.7175.
12:30 PM: Guest speaker: Linda Payne,“Imagine – a historical and personal explanation of color, painting and living life”

STEAK & STORIES: Great Hall - 6-8 PM
Speaker: John Headrick, Global Technology Development Lead (Monsanto Company);
Topic: “Feeding the World and Protecting the Planet Together”
Farmers face many complex challenges every day that impact their ability to help feed families around the world. John will discuss some of the latest innovations in agriculture, share his observations and experiences from his career in agricultural research and development, and answer questions about agriculture today and in the future.

FRIDAY MORNING WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY: Review the Collect and Scripture readings for the upcoming Sunday. We meet Friday mornings in the Library from 7:30-8:30 AM following Holy Eucharist at 7 AM in St. Mary’s Chapel.

HUNGER MINISTRY SANDWICH MAKING: Sandwich Making will take place Saturday, January 20. All parishioners are invited and encouraged to join the St. Michael’s Hunger Ministry on the third Saturday of each month from 10-11 AM in the Taylor Room to make sandwiches for the Bridge and FOCUS St. Louis clients.

Sunday, January 21
ANNUAL MEETING: CHILI, SOUP AND PIES ARE NEEDED for the lunch following our Annual Meeting on Sunday, January 21. "With Risky Faith , you can move from defeat to victory."

FAITHFUL GENERATIONS ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS: Join all generations of parents to discuss parenting in faith and encouraging a faithful generation of children. We meet each week for a discussion of what’s working, what worries us and for a community of support. This class meets in the Wydown Meeting Room (just off of the Library) each Sunday from 10:30-11 AM.

VERGER’S WALK for Confirmation families will be at 5 PM on Saturday, January 20, followed by dinner in the Taylor Room at 6 PM. Come learn how story, liturgy, and the physical space of the church are connected.

WINTER RETREAT: Join us at the YMCA of the Ozarks for a weekend away! Mark your calendar now for Saturday, January 27, through the early afternoon of Sunday, January 28. Middle School and High School retreats will be held separately but concurrently this weekend. Sign up coming soon!

MIDDLE SCHOOL MISSION WEEK PLANNING: MSMW is one of our most powerful programs each summer as students learn the importance of following Christ in the world by loving God and loving our neighbors.
