Stage 1

Cole Whitt rolled off the grid 32nd in the PPP (Pacific Production Plumbing) No. 72 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 to start the Toyota Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway
 
Lap 2: Whitt, running 28th, advanced two positions within the first two laps
 
Lap 16: As a series of green flag pit stops were underway, Whitt was scored as high as 21st on the leaderboard
 
Lap 30: Whitt, posted 32nd, relayed the PPP No. 72 lacked forward drive and turn
 
Stage 1 Completion Caution: Whitt completed the stage 21st. He came to pit for four tires, fuel, wedge and air pressure adjustments
 
 
Stage 2
 
Whitt took the green flag restart 31st to start Stage 2
 
Caution Lap 35 (car stalled on track): Whitt was scored 30th. He took the green flag restart 28th on the leaderboard
 
As green flag pit stops began to cycle through, Whitt gained positions on the leaderboard
 
 
Stage 2 Completion Caution: Completing Stage 2, Whitt was posted 14th, relaying Stage 2 was an overall better run than Stage 1 and his biggest concern was fall off. He pitted for four tires, fuel, air pressure and wedge adjustments.
 
 
Stage 3
 
Whitt started Stage 3 in the 28th position
 
Lap 57: Whitt radioed he thought he may have cut a tire our possibly have a sway bar issue. Crew Chief Frank Kerr called Whitt to pit for the crew to assess the situation. Upon initial assessment, Kerr immediately sent Whitt to the garage. With further analysis, it was determined the PPP No. 72 had a broken shock mount which ended the day for Whitt and the No. 72 team resulting in a 35th place finish in the Toyota Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway
 
*Whitt will return to the No. 72 at Watkins Glen International in August
