SI Ventura Provides Much Needed Gift cards to House of Hope

Thanks to your generous donations, our Club was able to provide House of Hope with 13 $20 Target gift cards! Most young women arrive at the Home with only the clothes on their backs. These much needed gift cards will help provide them with everyday items such as toiletries and clothing.

Cyndi and Trevor personally delivered the cards to Kris Hart, Director of the House and were provided with a tour of the Equine facility which is now in use. The facility provides much needed emotional therapy to the young women who reside there by assigning them a horse to care for and learn to ride.

Kris also brought us up-to-date on the current status of the House which is full to capacity. The young women are continuing their studies at the home, attending therapy sessions and learning how to nurture their bodies by eating healthy and practicing yoga.

It is our hope that in 2017 our Club will become more involved by mentoring these young women and providing Life Skills training!

Why Not Use Amazon Smile for your Holiday Shopping Needs?

What is AmazonSmile?
AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support your favorite charitable organization every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop at smile.amazon.com, you'll find the exact same low prices, vast selection and convenient shopping experience as Amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to our Soroptimist International of Ventura.

How do I select a charitable organization to support when shopping on AmazonSmile?
On your first visit to AmazonSmile ( smile.amazon.com ), you need to select Soroptimist International of Ventura to receive donations from eligible purchases before you begin shopping. Amazon will remember your selection, and then every eligible purchase you make at   smile.amazon.com will result in a donation.

How much of my purchase does Amazon donate?
The AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price from your eligible AmazonSmile purchases. The purchase price is the amount paid for the item minus any rebates and excluding shipping & handling, gift-wrapping fees, taxes, or service charges. From time to time, there may be special, limited time promotions that increase the donation amount on one or more products or services or provide for additional donations to charitable organizations.

AmazonSmile Donations to Charitable Organizations
100% of the donation amount generated from your eligible purchase on AmazonSmile will be donated. The donation amounts generated by your purchases are combined with the donation amounts from all other customers that selected the same organization, and each quarter the AmazonSmile Foundation makes donations to registered charitable organizations by electronic funds transfer. Donations are generally transferred approximately 45 days after the end of each calendar quarter.

Please tell all your family and friends to choose Soroptimist International of Ventura to support in their Amazon online purchases through the AmazonSmile program.

Presidents
Message

Keep the old.... But in with the new!

2016 has been a year of big changes for our club and our SIV members. It brought joys and sorrows too many to count. As we look forward to 2017, I wish us all a year rich with the blessings of love, joy, warmth and laughter. My wish is that we see more strong, empowered women and girls in Ventura and in the world as a result of our efforts.

The early months of 2017 will be busy ones for our Club. Our Committees will continue planning our fundraising events, membership mixers, scholarships and awards, assistance to nursing students and other projects in the community. We will welcome new members to our Club and encourage other strong, committed women to join us in our mission.

Happy holidays and New Year to everyone, and thank you so much for supporting Soroptimist International Ventura.
