2 Great new Jazz albums this week.  Papik gives us probably the best Jazz Dance album of the year so far, really nice cool jazz featuring the voice of Alan Scaffardi. Marcus Miller makes a nice retro sounding groove oriented album with his bass playing a main feature.

At Last the Philadelphia 40th Anniversary Box Set is here, 10 CDs, 181 quality tracks and 800 minutes of pure magic , not cheap but probably the best value set of the year.

There’s some great reissues this week, Carl Sherlock Holmes rare funk album makes its CD debut, Isaac Hayes and Dionne Warwick Live album featuring ‘Cant Hide Love’, plus reissues from Teena Marie, Dee Dee Warwick and Cissy Houston.

Also don’t miss the Philadelphia 40th special edition 7” singles, including the unreleased Jones Girls ‘Baby Don’t Go Yet, and the lesser known Archie Bell ‘Old People’. also check the Ivy Joe Hunter great 70’s soul. There’s also some nice 180gm Vinyl Jazz Reissue LP’s.

PAPIK - MUSIC INSIDE - CD - IRMA - NEW - £13.99 Italian jazz group Papik came to our attention with one of the best jazz albums of 2010 'Rhythm Of life'. Their new album 'Music Inside' again features the great easy vocals of Alan Scaffardi on the jazz dancers 'On The Move' and 'Open Eyes' as well as the shuffling 'This happiness' and 'You Must Have Come From Heaven'. Also check the brassy uptempo 'The Puzzle Of life' and 'Rebirth' ft Ely Bruna, 'Bossa 60' and the mellower 'Family Affair' ft Wendy Lewis. Best Italian Jazz album for a while.

JEFF BRADSHAW - BONE APPETIT (DELUXE EDITION) - CD - HIDDEN BEACH (2CD) - NEW - £16.99
Trombonist Jeff Bradshaw has developed with the Hidden Beach label over the past decade and his new album 'Bone Appetit' features collaborations with several vocalists to create a really nice album. Maysa adds her charm to 'So Rare' , Kindred appear on 'All Day Lovin' , Marsha Ambrosius on 'Got Till its Gone' and Raheem DeVaughn and Ms Jade on 'Til Tomorrow' .Also check the soft brass instrumental cover of Maze 'Happy Feelin's'. Nice jazzy soul.

JESSICA LAUREN - JESSICA LAUREN 4 - CD - FREESTYLE - NEW - £13.99 London based pianist Jessica Lauren release her fourth album. 'Four' kicks off with the jazzy Latin shuffler 'White Mountain'. Jocelyn Brown adds her distinctive vocals to two songs – 'Happiness Train' that has an R&B, spiritual feel mixed with some Southern Soul/Blues backing .and the spiritually uplifting 'I Believe'. 'Gangaman' and 'Dogtown' are strong Jazz tracks. 'Swamp Thing' is a haunting and atmospheric tune that is spacey and moody. 'Mr G' completes an album on a Jazz note with its understated groove and delicate piano lead..
