Goings On At The Farm - Summer 2017

Soulful Prairies is in her sweet spot. We have been busy and filled with the energy of all the daily activity. The spring chores that are difficult to accomplish in the winter are complete, and we are in a place to fully enjoy the events to come in the late summer and fall. It is the sense you get with a deep breath, the flow to enjoy a new energy of fluidity and ease.

Each season brings it's own beauty and challenges. As I spend more time with the elements, I have the deepest respect for the earth and its complexities. We have this amazing bullfrog. I picture him to be at least fifty pounds, and he has this amazing amplified deep croak. Each evening he reminds me of how connected we are on a multitude of levels. I don't know exactly where he lives, I don't know what he looks like and I will never meet him. However, at dusk when he brings his evening serenade, I am aware of the unseen gifts and all they have to offer.

Happier Then A Pig In Shit
Pig in Shit

What if just by existing we made the world a better place? Wouldn't that be amazing? What if by being fully us we were able to make an impact on people without even speaking -- just by being? Because horses live in the moment and don't obsess about yesterday today or tomorrow, they vibrate at a high level of joy and peace. This is also the reason that people comment that they feel different in the presence of them. They are literally changing our vibration. We, on the other hand, bounce around -- partly because we are human but also because we get stuck in story, worry and control. When we are stuck in those places our vibration drops. The good news is if we decide to embrace our sticky spots and find out what they have to offer us, in the process we become less reactive and our vibration rises ....Then just as horses impact our vibrational levels, we change those around us.

I am a firm believer that one of our biggest human purposes is to increase the good that we reverberate throughout the world. We cannot do that from a place of denial or shrinking. We need to live boldly!!

One of the things I am most passionate about is helping people see things from a new perspective.

Sharing the Gifts Of Sara
Sharing the Gifts Of Sara

Gifts Of Sara This spring we held an event that focused on reminding people how important it is to share the stories of those who are no longer with us.

A friend of mine lost her daughter to Batan Disease eight years ago. She has struggled to find a new normal. She found that many people didn't know how to approach her or talk about her daughter, Sara.   She wants the world to know that talking about her daughter is one of the most healing things friends can do.

With the funds made from this event, we were able to purchase forty Wellie American Girl dolls for children struggling with a life threatening illness.

Equine Gestalt Practitioners Program

This is the second year that my mentor, Melisa Pearce, from Touched By A Horse, came to teach at Soulful Prairies.

I received my Equine Gestalt Practitioners certification from this program and Soulful Prairies has been chosen as the Midwest location for this intensive four day teaching. Attending is a portion of the requirements to graduate. It is a wonderful opportunity and I am honored to be one of the designated locations.

Honoring The Horses With Camp I Am Me
Honoring The Horses With Camp I Am Me

This June we held our fifth Camp I Am Me. This is one of my favorite events where kids are bussed in for the day to learn about horses, trust and most importantly --  just have fun!

This year they experienced: honoring of the horses in the pastures, dog agility, at-liberty horse training and we even painted a new pair of angel wings on the barn. Soulful Prairies is humbled that they have chosen our place to take their one off site event each year.

Each year at Camp I Am Me we mix it up with new and different experiences. This year we took a look at our creativity, and these young adults did not disappoint!

Turtles Turtles Everywhere
baby turtle

This is the year of the turtle at Soulful Prairies. We had fat ones, skinny ones, some that climb on rocks. This little guy was cruising around on our path. He, of course, was set right back down after the picture to start his new little life.

Work and Play
Work and Play

Our home is complete, the horses have twice the area to roam and explore and we are grateful to all of those who made these projects come to fruition. We found time in July to celebrate the talented people who have been a part of the journey along the way!

A Hero_s Journey Camp
A Heros Journey Camp

It was two days of exploring, learning and finding a hero within. These kids surprised me in so many ways and once again I felt privileged to be a part of their experience at Soulful Prairies.
