MATCH PREVIEW
S2 Update
MUNCHKINLAND

Supporting a club at its core is a simple. You show up on match day and do what you feel best to help your club win the match. It is an emotional, passionate, expression of energy. Simple.

Over the course of this last weekend, that simple act was, as it has been across the world, made more difficult. We ask for one thing on match days - to allow our connection to our club to be unabated. We want the boys on the pitch to see us, hear us, and feel us. We are not alone.

Every last one of us should feel an ease when expressing the passion we feel in our hearts. We should not feel hindered by cameras in our faces looking for that "perfect shot." We should not be repressed by security guards telling us how and when to express our passion. And we should not be prevented from coming out every week to let our players, and our city, and our club hear our voices.

A big part of being a member of a supporter group is about being united. We have each other's backs. We may not know each other, or hell, even like each other, but together we have a common goal. We find strength in the scarves on our necks and the crests across our hearts. It's what bonds us and helps make us more than just a rowdy mob of people. We are supporters, and sometimes, that means supporting each other.

So with that in mind, we're going to do things a little differently this weekend. We're going to return to where the march began. Before the cameras, the stages, the bands, and the distractions. Back to when things were simple. Back to when it was just a group of friends sharing a few pints and getting to know one another before they all marched off to support their club. Join us at the FIRST bar we called home. Let's pack the pub like we used to. Let's unite as a supporter group together. Let's remember what it's like to fight for one another. This weekend let's go back to where it all started.

See you at Fuel at 5:30pm!

Sounders FC vs Sporting Kansas City

Saturday, May 23, 2015

Kickoff: 7PM PDT

Royal Brougham Park (CenturyLink Field)

Seattle, Washington

By Nick Gibson

You'll always be...

... the Wiz to me!

You know the difference between Whoever Kansas City and us? We embrace our history. We don't run from it. We don't bury it when the marketing glitz wears off. 40 years of pride and community. We voted Sounders. Then again, we don't have to try to forget kits that took their design cues from a hideous 90's Olympic mascot... what was that thing called? Howwhywuz? Howwhyyam? No no no - Whatzit! What a joke.

So don't believe the hype that this game is fraught with history, or has some grand importance. Don't use the "r word" - we handed our actual rivals a defeat last week. Yes, we've had a string of really fun wins against KC. We've also been handed one of, no, the MOST gutting of losses by them. But they're not a rival. They're just sporks: brittle, wasted plastic that stands in the way of three more points.

And what a brittle state Kansas City is in! They played a midweek game against the visiting Revolution and will be on short rest when they fly out to meet us. On top of fatigue, they're the most injured club in all of MLS right now, potentially unable to even field a full bench! As matchday approaches, keep a close eye on their expected lineup and injury report, as it's fluid and unpredictable at the time of this writing.

On the Rave Green front, it looks like we'll still be missing our primary goal machine. What's our fallback? Only MLS Player of the Week? Chad Barrett. Yes. You read that right: Chad Barrett, Player of the Week. Damn, it feels good to be a Sounder! Six points from three road matches is phenomenal, and we are fully capable of extending the winning streak on Saturday.

For those of you unable to travel along on the recent road trip, it feels like a long, long time since you saw the boys in person. Sometimes even 7 days is too long between matches, let alone a month! If that's the case for you as it is for me, rejoice: Saturday kicks off a week of three matches in eight days.

Welcome to summer with the Sounders: the best thing in Seattle for 40 years running.

S2: Back to the USL

U.S. Open Cup. Starfire. Elbows Thrown. 120 Minutes. Wait...that wasn't the First Team? S2 have made it clear they are a part of this Sounders family. With Wednesday's 4-2 win over Kitsap, S2 moves on to the next round of the USOC to face Timbers 2 at Starfire Wednesday the 27th at 1pm. Just enough time to swing by Starfire before the CLink and make Wednesday a Sounders Doubleheader. But before that, S2 travels to Portland for a Friday night league match at Merlo Field. You can already feel the hate in the air. Whoooooa, Whoooooa, Whoooooa........
