Special update - Hurricane Matthew slams Haiti

Hurricane Matthew made landfall today near Bondeau. The newly constructed church and school buildings are serving as emergency shelters for the community. Fr. Phanord, Rector of Bon Samaritain Church, reported heavy rains on Thursday. We are awaiting future communication and updates from Bondeau. We will send out a a special update once we know the state of the damage and needs of the community. Please continue your nightly prayers for the protection of the people of Bondeau and all of Haiti.

Teacher Training &  Enrichment Program

South Florida Haiti Project is collaborating with the academic team at Toussaint Louverture High School in Delray Beach to initiate a teacher training and enrichment program for the teachers at Bon Samaritain School in Bondeau. It took place the week of September 26. This will be the first week-long training program that we envision as a series of bi-annual training events.  The training program, Teaching by Heart, is currently under review for certification by the Department of Education in Haiti.

Drilling for Water

We are working with non-profit partners, Water for Small Villages and Water for Life, to drill four new wells in Bondeau.  After a series of delays because of the political situation in Haiti, our contractors will be drilling in the first week of November. Please join us in prayer as we seek to provide a source of sustainable drinking water for the community.
