Regional Show

Atlanta PhoenixEach year a club hosts a show in conjunction with the Regional Awards Banquet.  This year Atlanta Phoenix Cat Society is our host.  The show is being held on June 11-12, 2011, at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds.  This is the same hall used each May for the Rebel Rousers show so is a familiar site for many of you.    Check out the show flyer.  The club is making sure it's a special one for you and we encourage you to enter the show.

Exhibitor of the Year

Don't forget to nominate your shining star for Southern Region Exhibitor of the Year.  Nominees can not be a judge or board member and must be in good standing (can not have current suspension or board actions taken against individual)

Examples of support info for candidates

  • Goes above and beyond in voluntary activities
  • Participates in Ambassador program
  • Volunteers time and skills for CFA activities such as rescue, disaster relief, annual and regional banquet support, education, TNR, fund raising, mentoring new exhibitors.

Nominations can be made by clicking here.

Candidates for Director-At-Large

This year we vote to elect seven Board members from a field of 12 candidates.  There are several candidates who live in our own Region.  Unlike the Regional Directors, the seven who will be elected represent all of CFA rather than a defined region.  You can see a list of the 12 candidates with links to many of the candidates' flyers at http://cfa.org/client/exbdalcandidates.aspx .

You Tube YellowThere is a great video on YouTube taken at a show in New Jersey. While the show was not in our Region, the video includes some Southern Region exhibitors.  I thought the video was very well done.  Check it out.

From Our Regional Awards Coordinator

  2. You, the wonderful owners and servants of these awesome cats are fully aware of how your cats owners and breeders are spelled and laid out on the paperwork from CFA
  3. You, the wonderful owners and servants of these awesome cats are fully aware of how you WANT your names spelled out on the awards.
  4. The vast majority of you are well aware of the high probability of getting your Regional Win or top 3 of breed win in championship (even if the placement is not yet a sure thing)

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE If you want something modified from what is on the paperwork ir if central office has a common oops associated with your account (Such as our own LMP being Lisa and Maria Padilla ...)

                        2011 Annual

Report on the 2011 Annual's Progress

Reston SignDonna Jean and Susan recently worked closely with the Central Office to coordinate pertinent Annual information to be included with the mailing of the ballots for Directors At Large to CFA Club Secretaries.  A Function / Reservations form and an up-to-date Schedule of Events were included in the mailing.  Both forms can be seen on the Annual website as well, which has been masterfully kept up-to-date by Kathryn Brady.  Complete Awards Banquet information is available, as well as important information on the Winn Feline Foundation Symposium and Dinner, featuring heralded speakers from the veterinary research field discussing the latest findings in the battle against F.I.P.  Make your reservations on line for each of these dinners directly from the Annual website

We are excited to see our next Southern Region Annual Fund report which will be shared soon by Tracy Petty.  There is an excellent chance that it will show we may have less than $10,000 to go to meet our fundraising goal for the Annual!  The sales of iPad chances have been stellar thanks to a great group of volunteers who have pitched in and covered six regional shows and a few out of region shows as well.  We have three more weekends to go before the draw at the Southeastern Persian show in Richmond on April 16.  Get your tickets for $5 each or 5 for $20 from one of our volunteers at Sanford, FL (City Beautiful CC), next weekend and Melbourne, FL (Gasparilla FF), the weekend after.  Donna Jean was overcome with excitement recently when members of the Foothills Feline Fanciers presented her with a check for $1,000 for the Annual fund at the Coastal Paws show in Raleigh ... yet another very generous example of what our Southern Region clubs and individuals have done to help support our "Capital Idea!"

It is true that our Southern Region clubs and exhibitors are shouldering a lot of responsibility in the next few months.  What promises to be an outstanding (and fun!) Southern Region Awards Show and Banquet in the northeastern Atlanta area will be followed two weeks later by what promises to be an outstanding (and fun!) CFA Annual Meeting in Reston, VA.  Some volunteers are doing double duty with incredible tasks at each event, and clubs and individuals are being asked to contribute financially to social and general activities for two expensive ventures.  And with RW sponsorships being sought as well, we understand you are being pushed to the max of your pocketbooks.  Still, we thank you all for your continued willingness to do whatever you can to make each of our events as spectacular as they can be!  We have another fundraiser planned following the iPad which will make your visit to the Hyatt Regency at Reston Town Center even more enjoyable!  Stay tuned!

Delegate Bag Information and Event

Karen Lane writes:

Delegate Bag PinkWe are planning on 450 delegates bags to be given out at our Annual Meeting to our delegates.  The bags themselves are unique and hopefully we will see them at shows, with our members, for years to come.  After the meetings are over and great times spent seeing our CFA friends are history, the delegate bag goes home with everyone and is the "keepsake" from our Annual 2011.  We are encouraging our clubs, catteries and individuals to help fill our unique bag with memorable items.  In addition to our "Annual Keepsake Pin" and Delegate Booklet, we have planned cats toys, garment bags, delicious edibles, isolated tumblers, reusable cat food can lids and other surprises.  Please help make our Delegate Bag something special for our members.  We only have this great opportunity every seven years.  Please contact me for ideas that fit into your budget.

Delegate Booklet

Annual Delegate Book advertising cannot get much better. This year you will not only see Cherry Blossom  blooms in full color, ads with pictures of your beautiful winners may be placed in the Delegate Book in full color as well. If you would like to honor your cat or recognize a friend's cat that has achieved one of CFA's distinguished awards, contact Sue Beuerlein and advertise to celebrate 2010 - 2011 show year achievements.

Prices begin at $20.00 for a Quarter page black and white ad and end at $70.00 for a full page color advertisement. There's an option for every pocketbook this year.  For details see the link to the Delegate Book Advertising link on the web site for full details and contact Sue now to reserve space. Many cats need full color to do them justice and we're providing that option.

Full Page black and white Show flyer ads are available for $35.00 and should be sent to Sue in PDF format. This should be your Clubs first option to announce your show and get the word out to exhibitors planning their show season.

Breed Councils have been asked to participate honoring their Breed Winners and the response has been extraordinary. We hope to fill the center of the Delegate Book with photos (color or black and white)  of the top winning cats for each breed. Deadline for submission is just around the corner - May 15th. Plan now to join in with many others who are taking advantage of this unique opportunity to celebrate your accomplishments.

We hope to see you in June in the beautiful city of Reston, Virginia. It's a Capital Idea!
