2012 is here! How was 2011 for you? Do you remember it? Isn't it amazing how fast a year can go by...seems like just a few months ago I was sitting at my desk writing last January's newsletter article.  Boy, things sure have changed since I wrote that letter a year ago. We said goodbye to some family - Adam Kellogg (Isaac's), Heather Iantorno (Cuba CL), Joelle Potts (Wellsville CL) and Bryan Caldwell (Board)...Gained some family - Katy Johnston (Cuba CL), Michael Cook (Board) and many new volunteers. We have struggled with the rest of the country with our finances. We spent countless hours with kids and have seen Christ's light shine in many of their eyes for the first time. In a Nutshell, 2011 was sad, exciting, stressful, hard and rewarding. God provided our finances, Kids heard and responded to the Gospel and we have new members of our family.

As we look forward into 2012, I believe it is safe to say that we are in for an amazing time. Still more changes are occurring, Our Office Manager of over 20 years, Barb Stormer, is going into semi-retirement and Shawn Derrick will be handling some of the office duties.  Melody Crawford is stepping down after sixteen years to enjoy a new chapter of ministry with her three children and the younger children in her church. Moreover, we are starting a brand new ministry effort in Wellsville under the direction of a new volunteer ministry team lead by a young man named Chris Babbitt! Already I am experiencing sadness, joy and stress, and the year has just begun! Nevertheless, God is GOOD and He is in control, and we are honored to be a part of the plan.  Thank you for your continued support, God Bless and Happy New Year!

Katy Johnston

When I was younger, I couldn't wait until the first day of school. I had a chance to get new pencils, notebooks, and clothing. These were accompanied by a sense that I could conquer the world, ace every math test that came my way, and open my locker on the first try every time. Today, I find that same feeling accompanies the start of a new year.  2012 marks a year of opportunity. It creates chances to reflect on God's grace for my life, where He has placed me, and excitement for new growth. Much momentum has occurred in the clubs, and I can't wait to see what it turns into for the spring semester.

Lately, the students in both towns have been asking tough questions, and have started sharing their hearts. In the spring semester, we will be diving into curriculum which will challenge students to discover the reasons behind their faith in our Father. We also have many big events planned for the semester, like our retreat at Circle C Ranch and a 30 Hour Famine. I realize I state it often, but I truly am excited to see what happens next. To be serving here at Youth for Christ honestly is a blessing beyond my expectations. I'm constantly blindsided by the lessons God is teaching me through these students, and am thankful beyond words for your continued prayers and support.

Chris Babbitt -

City Life Director - Wellsville

Chris Babbitt

My name is Chris Babbitt, and I have the distinct pleasure of overseeing the Youth Center on Main St. in Wellsville. We have had a blast getting to know one another as well as meeting the youth. For the past couple weeks we have been open on Mondays to get connected with teens in the area, and we are looking forward to opening the Youth Center more in the near future.

I am a local guy, born and raised in the great city of Wellsville; and as small as our town may appear, our Heavenly Father has been watching over us fervently. There have been a lot of changes at the Southern Tier Youth for Christ over the past few years, but one thing that stays the same is our love for Christ and what He did for us. Reaching young people with the message of the Gospel is the reason we are here. It is a great privilege to be here working with people to spread hope and joy across this town.

As I said, the Youth Center has recently been open only on Mondays. We are confident that in the weeks ahead we will be able to open the Skate Park, in addition to opening our doors several days a week. God bless you and yours in this new year.

Every third Thursday of the month we meet to pray and fast from 9:00-10:00 at the office in Wellsville. We would love to have you join us either in person or wherever you are.
