Rand Paul
Tea Party Champion Senator Rand Paul Endorses Greg Sowards for Senate

Republican Senate candidate Greg Sowards picked up a high-profile endorsement today when Sen. Rand Paul - a tea party favorite - encouraged New Mexicans to vote for him.

Here's what Paul, a Kentucky Republican whose father is Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, had to say about Sowards:

"I'm calling on conservatives, libertarians, and Tea Party activists in New Mexico and across the nation to support Greg Sowards," Paul said in a statement.  "He will stand for the Constitution and I'm proud to stand with him.

Greg supports dramatically shrinking government.  Greg supports the 5-year balanced budget ... He agrees that our future generations of Americans do not deserve to be enslaved by debt, and we need more champions like him in the U.S. Senate."

Paul added, "Greg realizes our problems aren't solved in Washington, but by getting back to local governance where New Mexicans can have more control over their own lives.  Government does not create jobs... entrepreneurs like the Sowards family do."

Sowards faces an uphill battle in his Republican Senate primary race against the better-known and better-funded former Rep. Heather Wilson. Furthermore, the three-year-old tea party's influence seems to be waning. Regardless, the Paul endorsement gives Sowards something to smile about today.

Here's a profile Michael Coleman did of Sowards, an Army veteran and Las Cruces businessman, last month.

As a career politician, my opponent, Heather Wilson, violated our trust and the N.M. Republican Platform by voting for:

Big Government, even to Expand the job killing EPA!

Implementation of Kyoto Protocol - UN style Cap & Trade international tax scheme.

Stimulus Spending, TARP bailing out Wall St. with Main St. money to the tune of 700 Billion.

Raising the National Debt limit several times, it went from 5 trillion in 1998 to over 10 trillion in 2008, the ten years she lived in Washington.

Voted for the Federal Government to increase control of healthcare with the S-Chip program.  When it was vetoed, she Joined Democrats and Nancy Pelosi in a vote to override Pres. Bush's veto - twice.

And On and on.

In stark contrast, the Patriots Dream sees beyond the years, as well as the next election.

I will never tell you I voted for a piece of bad legislation because it was part of a bigger bill.  That common practice places America on the slippery slope toward tyranny, the giving up of "just a little" liberty with every bill.  It adds up over time.

We wake up one day and wonder where it went!

As you know, it does take money to run a successful campaign, so if there were ever a time to stand up and make a donations, that time is now.  Click on the donate button and make a donation.  Every little bit helps.  We have many things to pay for, mailings, ads signs etc.

Sincerely,

Five questions I will ask myself before voting on any piece of legislation: The answer to these questions will act as a safety net to filter out bad legislation.

1.  Is this legislation worth putting our children and grandchildren into debt?

2.  What effect does it have on America's traditional family?

3.  Does it take rights away from law abiding citizens and give them to criminals?

4.  Does it strengthen and uphold the U.S. Constitution?

5.  Does it protect the Sovereignty of  America?

Anything that doesn't get through this net, I will actively fight against!  I will not sit idly by and watch it happen, because I am afraid of offending a, "so called," friend in Washington!
