Pennsylvania Posts Draft
ESSA Consolidated State Plan for Public Comment
  • August 10: Webinar
  • August 31: Public comment period closes
The Pennsylvania Department of Education is pleased to report that Pennsylvania's draft Consolidated State Plan pursuant to the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is now available for public review and comment. A copy of the draft Consolidated State Plan has been posted for review and download on PDE's website .

This draft plan was informed by the ideas, input, and feedback shared by stakeholders from every corner of the commonwealth, including parents and families, students, educators, legislators, advocacy groups and community members. The Department's stakeholder engagement process also relied on feedback provided through the state's four ESSA Stakeholder Workgroups convened in the spring and summer 2016, regional listening tours, and discussions with more than 30 groups at conferences and meetings over the past year.

The draft plan is available for review in English and in Spanish. A PowerPoint guide accompanies the plan to facilitate review, also available in English and Spanish.

PDE invites submission of public comments via an online survey accessible through a link on the ESSA webpage, in English or Spanish. Comments may also be submitted via [email protected]. The public comment period closes on August 31 and the final plan will be submitted to the U.S. Department of Education on September 18.

In addition, PDE will host a webinar on Thursday, August 10 from 3 to 4 p.m. Registration is required-- register here. Space is limited. The webinar will be recorded and posted on the department's ESSA webpage
