Special 18th District CAPS Meeting

Dear Neighbors,

Your questions and concerns are welcome at a special Chicago Police Department CAPS meeting this week with CPD Commander Deveraux. This unique beat meeting, hosted by the 18th District is Thursday, March 10th at 6:30 PM at the St. James Lutheran Church, 2101 N. Fremont. This meeting will address security concerns and crime statistics in the 43rd Ward between North and Fullerton Avenues.

Police will host breakout sessions to help interested residents organize neighborhood watch groups, recruit block captains, and develop best practices for neighborhood safety.

Evening of Jazz at DePaul

The DePaul School of Music and the DePaul Office of Community and Government Relations invite you to attend an evening of music and mingling on March 10th at the DePaul Student Center, 2250 N. Sheffield. The free event starts with wine and cheese at 7:00 p.m., followed by three ensemble performances a t 8:00 p.m

Family Day at DePaul Art Museum

DePaul Art Museum and  The Paintbrush Art Studio  are hosting a hands-on family workshop on Sunday March 13th from 3:00 - 5:00 PM, inspired by the works in "Dianna Frid & Richard Rezac: Split Complementary." Kids ages 3 and up will have fun learning about the artists' work while creating a unique art project of their own. The workshop is free and open to all, but children  must be accompanied by a participating adult. Click here to register.

Early Voting Continues

The Illinois primary election is Tuesday, March 15, 2016 and county-wide early voting continues through March 12th, 9 AM - 5 PM Monday through this Saturday at Lincoln Park Library, 1150 W. Fullerton. You may register to vote at the early vote locations with two forms of identification, including your current address.  Click here for more information about other early voting locations and the upcoming elections.

For a non-partisan look at the candidates,  BallotReady is a great resource. Founded by three UChicago alumni in partnership with the Institute of Politics, BallotReady's mission is to make it easy to vote confidently by comparing all of
the candidates on the ballot. BallotReady launched its voter guide to the Illinois primary this  week. 

Coffee with the Commander

Commander Deveraux of the 18th District will be at Eva's Cafe, 1447 N. Sedgwick, on Wednesday, March 16th to   chat with neighbors  about safety in the community. This is the first date of the new program sponsored by the Ne ar North Unity Program that will take place on the third Wednesday of every month.

AARP: Life Reimagined Check-Up

Lincoln Park Village invites you to a step-by-step seminar to discover possibilities, prepare for change and realize your ideas for work, health, relationships or finances. Saturday, March 12th from 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM at AARP Illinois, 222 N. LaSalle. Advance registration is required for this free event. Please call Lincoln Park Village at 773-248-8700.


Friends of Lincoln Park Auction

Help support our neighborhood high school by participating in the online auction held by Friends of Lincoln Park to benefit Lincoln Park High School. The auction kicks off March 15th and runs through March 27th. A gala to support the school will follow on April 1st from 7 - 10 PM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 2701 N. Sheffield. Chicago Residential Zone Parking Pass Changes

As of March 1st, changes have been made to the City of Chicago Residential Zone Parking Program. Please note the following:
  • Residents can now purchase up to three sheets of permits per 30 day period. Each sheet of 15 daily permits is $8.00.
  • Our office will NO LONGER be able to create new resident records. If you do not have a resident record in the system, the Office of the City Clerk must create a record prior to our office being able to sell you permits. Email proof of your address and a photo ID to EZBUY@cityofchicago.org. This process can take up to 2-3 business days. 
  • Passes are available for purchase at all City Clerk sales locations. Click here to view these locations and their corresponding hours of operation. 
    You may also purchase zone parkin g passes online here.  

Tree House Cats at Work 

Are you concerned about pests in the Ward? The Tree House Humane Society's Cats at Work program places sterilized and vaccinated feral cats on sites where requested to control rodents in an effective and environmentally sound system. If you're interested in participating, please call Tree House at 312-446 -1000.
