17th Annual Winter's Eve - 7 Days Away! |
Get excited for holiday cheer, Winter's Eve is almost here!
At 5:30pm on
Monday, November 28,
the Upper West Side's only tree lighting ceremony at Dante Park (on Broadway between 63rd and 64th Streets) kicks off Winter's Eve at Lincoln Square, presented by
Time Warner, Inc.,
with an exciting countdown for the neighborhood.
We are pleased to announce that three time Grammy nominee
Bettye LaVette will join us to sing at the Tree Lighting Ceremony and help pay tribute to the late
Sharon Jones who sadly passed away this past Friday after a brave fight against cancer. Bettye is a master song stylist and one of the greatest American soul singers. Bettye, whose career spans over five decades from the birth of soul music in the 60s, recently won Best Soul Blues Female Artist of 2016 at The Blues Music Awards in Memphis, Tennessee, and her most recent CD,
Worthy, garnered her a third Grammy nomination. The countdown will be televised live on
WABC-TV with Amy Freeze and hosted by
Justin Guarini from Broadway's
In Transit The Musical. Plus, members of the
Metropolitan Opera Chorus will also join in on the ceremony!
And, of course one of the stars of the show is the Lincoln Square Holiday Tree. This year's 27ft Concolor Fir comes from
Domes Tree Farm located in Bliss, New York in partnership with
I Love NY. The tree was installed by the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation and will illuminate both Winter's Eve and the holiday season with lights donated by
Lowe's Home Improvement and old-fashioned silver glass glitter ornaments made by Wendy Addison and
Tinsel Trading.
Afterwards, this wonderful celebration continues all evening from Time Warner Center up to 68th Street along Broadway, with tons of free live music and dance, delicious food tastings at nominal cost, and exciting family activities and entertainment.
Visit winterseve.nyc for an up-to-date listings of performances and activities for the evening, including local up-and-coming musicians, kid-friendly crafts and shows, multicultural dance, and business participation.

Lincoln Square's favorite holiday tradition, Winter's Eve at Lincoln Square, will fill our neighborhood with music, food, and fun for everyone. But YOU could play the most valuable roll of all. The Lincoln Square BID's small staff relies on a team of hard working volunteers to make sure everything runs smoothly. If you are interested in lending a hand behind the scenes as a production assistant, helping other attendees find their way around, or collecting some information about people who attend the event
All volunteers will receive a boxed meal and a special Winter's Eve hat.

Support the New York Cares Coat Drive |
Winter's Eve at Lincoln Square is a free event, but all attendees are encouraged to give back by bringing a gently used or new coat and donating it to the New York Cares Coat Drive, the official charitable partner of Winter's Eve at Lincoln Square.
On the evening of Winter's Eve, New York Cares will be onsite at Dante Park (Broadway and 63rd Street) collecting coats. Also, many of our Winter's Eve Outdoor Food Tasting participants will donate a portion of the evening's proceeds to New York Cares. Plus, many of the cheerful volunteers you see out on the street on Winter's Eve are being provided by New York Cares.
