This Weekend, November 16 and 17
Special Aircraft Guests at the Museum

 

If you happen to be looking up this weekend and see a warbird formation, you will not be imagining it.  

 

Wings Over Miami will be hosting some guests this weekend out at the hangar. Multiple members of the RedStar Pilots Association, along with some of our planes and pilot friends, have been invited to do fly-bys both days of the NASCAR races.   

 

On Saturday, around noon, the planes will be arriving to the museum. The pilots will be briefed and will prepare for the fly-bys prior to leaving each day.  The schedule for the fly-bys have not been announced as yet, but the pilots expect to leave the airport about 30 minutes prior to the race start on both days.  

 

As South Florida's only flying museum, a majority of the planes in the hangar are in flying condition. Due to the generosity of the aircraft sponsors, the planes fly for special events and oftentimes on weekends. Wings Over Miami enjoys hosting guest planes and encourages everyone to visit to see them as well.

AACA South Florida Region and Sunshine Corvette Car Clubs 6th Annual Fall Car Show
On Saturday, November 23rd, AACA South Florida Region and Sunshine Corvette Car Clubs will be having their annual charity fund raiser to benefit the museum and
Neva King Cooper Educational Center.

Each year the classic corvettes and antique cars come out to the museum for a day of show and tell. At the end of the day, the clubs generously share their proceeds with the museum and other charities. We look forward to this show every year as a fun day for both the car owners and visitors to the museum.

A Couple of December Notes
Important News about Toys for Tots

This is the second year that Wings Over Miami has become a drop off station for the Marine Corps Reserve holiday gift program.

Inside the museum gift shop, you will find a huge box waiting to be filled with new toys and gifts for children of all ages. You don't even have to wrap them! Any toy bought in the museum gift shop for a donation to the box will be given a 10% discount. 

The backstory about this program:

The main Toys for Tots activities which takes place each year are the collection and distribution of toys in the communities in which a Marine Corps Reserve Unit is located. In communities without a Reserve Unit, but has a Marine Corps League Detachment or group of men and women, generally veteran Marines, they will be authorized by Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to conduct a local Toys for Tots campaign.

Local Toys for Tots Campaign Coordinators conduct an array of activities throughout the year, which include golf tournaments, foot races, bicycle races and other purely voluntary events designed to increase interest in Toys for Tots, and concurrently generate toy and monetary donations

One of the activities for Toys for Tots in early December will be a benefit car show in their honor on Sunday, December 8, 2013. The museum will be there and you can bring a gift to us there as well.
