World Book Night, Launch Parties, Our 19th Birthday Bash ... and More!
We always look forward to May and celebrating our birthday with our friends in San Diego. It is one of the most exciting days of our year, and this year promises to be no exception. As you know, we have been bring great authors, events, and books to San Diego for 19 years, and we thank you for making it possible for us to do so. Read all about our Birthday Bash, taking place all day this Saturday, May 5.
Last night in our stores, we were overwhelmed by the stories we heard from our customers and friends as they became part of the movement to give away 500,000 free books last Monday night, April 23, 2012, World Book Night.
MGRB had an intimate evening at our Reflection Mixer as participating givers wrote their stories in our WBN journal, and also participated in our Flash Card video. Cynthia Fox also interviewed givers for KLOS's spotlight on the community to help promote World Book Night.
MGSD's Recap Party included an entertaining discourse by WBN author Orson Scott Card, cupcakes, and WBN givers who recounted their experiences distributing books to complete strangers.
While our focus this week in San Diego is our 19th Birthday Bash, the Redondo Beach location is hosting two launch parties, welcoming new authors to the store, and participating in Free Comic Book Day. Plus both locations have received lots of exciting new May titles. More information is below.
