The Costume Society of America's Midwest Region will host a conference in our own back yard that could be of particular interest to GGRWHC members--and the CSA has invited GGRWHC membership to take advantage of the full conference at CSA member rates.**
The CSA is dedicated to the study of the field of costume and the preservation of material samples. GGRWHC members will remember the history of women with needles and note several presentations of historical interest on the program.
Three local scholars will offer featured presentations--Michael Hauser (independent historian), Suzanne Eberle (KCAD), and Andrea Melvin (GRPM), and GVSU professor Steeve Buckridge and student Chehallis Robinson are also on the program.
- and the newly renovated Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum with a special look at the Betty Ford clothing collection.
Saturday lunch will be at the historic Women's City Club, which will offer a peek at the ArtPrize competition.
**If you act quickly (by September 6th, using online payment through Eventzilla), early bird registration fees, including lunches and tours, will be available. Please note that Grand Rapids Public Museum members will be receiving special benefits to the presentations only. The special offer to GGRCWHC members includes the entire conference.
