Special Update:  Women for Climate Justice
At COP21 Climate Talks and Beyond
November 27, 2015
Dear Friends and Allies,

Yesterday, the Women's Earth and Climate Action Network delegation arrived in Paris, France to stand for  climate justice and systemic change  during United Nations COP21 climate negotiations.

WECAN will advocate inside of COP21 alongside the Women and Gender Constituency, and unite outside with thousands of peoples-movement allies to contemplate, act, confront and struggle with the existential question of how we will address climate change and transform how we are living with each other and our precious Earth. We will push for plans and policies that are in line with the magnitude of the crisis we face, and which foster justice for women, the Earth, and all of its diverse peoples.

In light of the wave of violence that has  impacted  Paris, Beirut, Baghdad, Nigeria and countless other communities - we will also hold space and take action in Paris to lift up critical  intersectional n arratives around  violence, racism, destructive economic systems, climate disruption, and  disconnection  from nature,  and demonstrate how  women  are  peace-makers and  solution  carriers. Our hearts and minds are with  all those affected by the recent tragic events.

With mass marches in Paris banned by French authorities, we are calling on allies to participate in  decentralized mobilizations planned across the world to ensure that the people's voice for climate justice is the voice that rings loudest during these pivitol negotiations. Last weekend, WECAN helped kick off global actions with more than 4,000 people on the streets in Oakland California, USA - marching to end fossil fuel extraction, uphold Rights of Nature, Indigenous rights and women's rights, and bring women's voices to the forefront.

We invite you to join us on the ground in Paris for WECAN actions and events, or follow along from wherever you are via our Facebook and Twitter pages.
