WINEMAKER DINNER    

The Bertani estate has been in continuous operation since 1857, when it was founded by brothers Gaetano and Giovan Battista Bertani. Decades before most grape growers were thinking about bottling their own wine, the Bertani brothers decided that owning their own land and producing the highest quality wines possible was the key to future success; they invested virtually all their resources into acquiring the best vineyard land available, first in the Soave and Valpantena zones. Almost immediately, they were recognized as a model agricultural company, and one of the first in Italy to bring capital resources and technology to bear on all aspects of production and distribution.

In the mid 20th century, the Bertani family acquired the Villa Novare estate in the Valpolicella, and with a small handful of other estates began to produce what we now know as Amarone. Bertani's first vintage was 1958. Sixty-five years later, Bertani is still widely regarded as the standard-bearer for quality Amarone. Few wines anywhere possess such grace, finesse and elegant power, and very few have even a fraction of the age-worthiness.

For this very special dinner, we will be joined by Stefano Mangiarotti, who will be taking us through eight vintages of these incredibly long-lived wines, in addition to their crisp, refreshing Soave and unctuous Recioto. We will be looking all the way back to the epic 1967 vintage and finishing with the equally-lauded 2003, with at least one wine from each intervening decade in-between. To match these singular wines, Executive Chef Matt Molina has created a delicious five-course Venetian-inspired menu. Please join us for what is sure to be a night to remember!
