Prepare the Way

Mark 1:2-3, "I will send a messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way" - "a voice of one calling in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make paths straight for him.' "

 

Can you imagine being confronted by John the Baptist today?  John probably would make a person a little uncomfortable by his attire as verse six of this chapter in Mark tells us "John wore clothing made of camel's hair with a leather belt around his waist."

University of Kentucky Study

The University of Kentucky College of Education is conducting a three-year study addressing the transition from school to work for students with autism spectrum disorder. Autism "Thought-Marker"

Scientists have identified a way that might help doctors diagnose autism with a brain scan using an MRI.  Researchers are calling the differences in the way the brain responds to certain thoughts "thought-markers".  Learn more.

Autism Speaks is a comprehensive website on autism with information and resources for professionals and families.  Autism Speaks funds research related to the causes, prevention, treatments, and a cure for autism.  Click here to learn more and gain access to the resources offered on this site.

Apps

Use the Autism Speaks "App Search" to find an appropriate app.  Search filters include the type of app (ex: communication, social skills, etc), type of device the app works on, and the age group the app is appropriate for.  Click here to access the site.

Book Look
For Kids

A is for "All Aboard!", by Paula Kluth, Victoria Kluth, and Brad Littlejohn (illustrator), is the first alphabet book created for children with autism in mind.  Appropriate for ages 4-8.  Click here for more information.
