Volunteer spotlight: Mark Stevenson
Mark Stevenson has been a volunteer at the Mansion since August 2013. He was in the second group to go through volunteer training and has been a fixture at the historic home ever since.

"I'm a storyteller," said Mark. "I love meeting our visitors and relating the story of the Mansion so they have an appreciation for our rich history."

Mark's favorite room is the Butler's Pantry. He says it's the perfect combination of old and new because you can see how part of it dates back to the first owner of the Mansion and how it was later remodeled by another owner.

When not at the Mansion, Mark can be found conducting oral histories of people that played a role in the history of Highlands Ranch. He publishes videos on Vimeo for the public to view.
Wednesday evening open hours begin tonight
Open hours at the Mansion are typically most Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and one Monday evening a month. Beginning tonight, the Mansion will be adding open hours one Wednesday evening each month for a trial period. If the new hours are well received, it may become a permanent part of the schedule.

Guests can visit the Mansion the following Wednesdays through April -
  • January 25
  • February 8
  • March 22
  • April 26
Volunteers will offer free guided tours, or guests are welcome to self-tour as well. No reservation required.

The Mansion is full of history
The fireplace mantel in the Mansion's living room features unique carvings that provide insight into the pride Frank Kistler (owner from 1926-1937) must have felt for his beautiful home.

The etchings include a bird's eye view of the building, its east and west wings, and mountain views that still greet visitors today. Diamond and "K" shapes, chiseled along the top of the mantel, recollect a time when the property was known as the Diamond K Ranch. Also included are the years 1929-1930, a reference to when Kistler remodeled the home.
