A PERSONAL NOTE
Hi,
America is very confused now about its values - should we be kind or tough? New Age or traditional? All-inclusive or protective? It's a celestial pattern
* that lingers through this year (at least) and is evident right now concerning gun control versus the Second Amendment of the Constitution. Our recent day trip into Pennsylvania was interrupted by one of the protest marches. It got me to thinking:
The anxiety about malicious and random killings that underlie these protests has seemingly ignored a key metaphysical principle which, if universally taught, might bring about a different way of thinking. The key tenet is KARMA. Action and reaction. Cause and effect. If you kill another person, karma will demand that the action is rebalanced by either your own such demise, or an action that saves your victim's life in the future.
As ye sow, so shall ye reap.
Yup. Our movies usually glamorize the hero who mows down dozens of souls. Or the villain who plots and executes wholesale slaughter. Then in real life, our young (usually) male killers actually go out and do the same, thinking they're getting some kind of glory, fame, or emotional reward.
Has anyone told them that for each kill they must live a life in which they receive the same?
Seventeen kills? Then seventeen lives during which they'll come back to be murdered themselves. Brutal sadism? Then multiple lives in which they'll be the victim of such. Pedophilia? Then, a next life in which they'll have a victimized childhood.
Do you think I'm being too harsh? Then learn astrology and check out some people's charts to see how they are born into misery because they weren't very nice people in their past life or two. Karma, like gravity or electricity, works even if you don't believe in it!
Maybe it's time - instead of wrestling with whether or not to emasculate ourselves and risk our freedom - for us to give credence to the fact of karma. To see yourself in the shoes (and body) of your victim, and try to project how you'd feel on the other end of your gun and your wanton killing spree. Maybe it's time to stop talking about gun control (a shady prospect at best) and start talking about the direct, very personal consequences of one's actions. "Hell," you know, can be right here on earth.

APRIL 2018 ASTRO TIDBITS
There is a slow start with obstacles in the World chart in April (
Mars conjunct Saturn
). Week 2 shows an appreciation for tradition, and benefits to economics (
Mars trine Saturn; Venus trine Mars
). Mid-month is a good time to grow and open up (
Pluto station retrograde sextile Jupiter
). Discussions are favored on the 15th (
Mercury station direct
), with inventive new starts on the 16th but also the possibility of disruption (
New Moon conjunct Uranus
). The 18th-19th indicate caution (
Saturn station retrograde; Venus trine Pluto
). Freedom and innovation are the themes on the 19th (

). The 24th offers energetic efforts towards progress (

There is a technique in astrology that allows a practitioner to compare one person's horoscope against another's to
 determine the ways in which the two interact harmoniously or are challenged by their respective energy patterns. The name for this technique is synastry, and it is in fact one of the chief and ancient usages for this tool.
For instance, in some other cultures where arranged marriages are the norm, this technique is traditionally used to compare the respective spouses' patterns to determine the degree of their compatibility. In Western society, we usually do not do so. We usually as of late find each other by means of sexual attraction, common interests, or in some cases, convenience. The latter was the norm, especially among titled aristocracy or the wealthy upper class in order to seal national alliances or merge fortunes.
The problem with making marriages based upon physical chemistry, political unions, or financial accretion is that there is a strong likelihood that the two people won't get along, may not develop a loving bond, or may be so unalike in their interests or values that it is marriage in name only.
Astrology offers a different system. By studying each individual's energy patterns, we can see many things. Does the relationship have a mental compatibility, or will there be misunderstandings and arguments, or even more so a total breakdown of communications? Do the two people share similar values when making decisions about saving or spending, or even decorating their house, or choosing what type of vacation to take? Are they deeply divided, or on the same page? Will the relationship be fertile, if that's what is needed? Will the two people support and help each other's journeys, or will they thwart, criticize, block or undermine them? Is there trust between them? Are they essentially similar? These and so many more questions that are vital to a successful relationship can be studied and analyzed effectively and with great accuracy via the horoscope.
Relationships do not exist only as marriages; they exist also as parent/child, siblings, business partners, and various other types of ties, even including nations and corporations.
Astrology is a wonderful tool. It is coming into its own finally in Western society in recent years, over
 coming resistance, lack of understanding, and what might be called falsehoods. It makes great sense to use this effective tool when you understand its great benefits.

MOVIE REVIEW: "Moon" - Stage 6 Films, 2009
An important tenet of creative writing is to make sure your reader (or, in the case of movies, your viewer) can engage in "a willing suspension of disbelief". This means that the writer has succeeded in transporting the reader or viewer into another universe, another time, a different reality, in which, no matter how fantabulous, how strange, or even how familiar but unexplored the new world is, one becomes completely engaged, and allows oneself to be carried along without question, and entertained for the duration. Some tales - especially those whose odd world has internal logic - succeed better than others at doing this.
An older movie that I recently watched, in the science fiction genre, called "Moon" from 2009, almost succeeded. It was entertaining but midway through, holes in the plot the size that one could drive a truck through began to appear. This greatly curtailed my enjoyment and halted my willing suspension of disbelief.
In this movie, an astronaut, Sam Bell, is finishing a 3-year stint in a space station on the dark side of the Moon, whose purpose is to mine Helium-3, and assure that the automated equipment and launches of product back to the Earth proceed without incident. To help him and keep him company in his adequate accommodations is a robot called GERTY that tends to his needs and can even perform medical procedures if necessary.
The first thing that is bothersome is the fact that a person is alone in this situation for three years without human company, and one's mind is constantly addressing this peculiarity because why would a company or agency ever devise such a difficult uncompromising scenario. Why not put two people in the space station?
Sam is helped by video links with his saddened wife and very young child during his stint. As his three-year contract nears completion and he looks forward to his return to Earth, strange things begin to occur, among them drastic physical changes affecting his wellbeing, and odd hallucinations.
At this point forward, A SPOILER ALERT. In order to describe my discomfort with the plot, I must give away some surprises.
It turns out that Sam is a clone whose life span is three years, and whose replacements are already packaged, ready to go, in a hidden area of the space station. Furthermore, previous iterations of Sam are not really returned to Earth but are disintegrated. It's all a charade. These revelations and discoveries flesh out the remainder of the movie. However, a huge flaw in this plot regards the storage of hundreds of versions - how are these heated, oxygenated, maintained, fed throughout these years and years of iterations? What is the point of the incredible expense and conspiracy to keep astronaut Sam and his clones fooled by this elaborate subterfuge?
I cut my teeth on science fiction, reading the great masters of the genre from the fifth grade on - masters such as Arthur C. Clarke, Harlan Ellison, Ray Bradbury, and Philip K. Dick, to name just a few. One of the major markers of their greatness was that the worlds that they postulated held together, made internal sense, brought you into a different reality in which they (and you) could extrapolate what life might be like at a future time or on a distant planet, etc. It troubles me to see such obvious poor plot construction. I wish I could just watch and be entertained, and not be bothered by this assault on my intelligence... but I can't. Throughout the movie I'm noticing the flaws, the discrepancies, the reasons why I can't suspend my disbelief, and therefore I can't enjoy the offering.
Although the "Moon"'s set design was good, there was (thankfully) no gratuitous sex that burdens so many recent movies (for which my Creative Writing prof would have given me a D grade), and it looked as though the editing was fine, the essential defect prevents me from giving this more than 2 ½ stars.

If you stop to think about it, a new vision appears. It is like that of a quest for answers that travels inwardly and stops not for emotions nor for analysis but goes deeper. This is named the quest to realize and advance intuition.
It is a new vision because the insight is reversed. Rather than waiting for experience to teach one wisdom or understanding as though one is a passive recipient of the a-ha moment, instead this new approach requires or reinforces an active inner search for the way to connect with the teacher within.
This connection cannot be made with traditional modalities such as reasoning. It can only be made by preparing the inner ground to be still, to be without thought, to learn how to simply exist. Many now are teaching this new vision. Once successful, a pathway to it is paved, opened, planted. This pathway allows the person to skedaddle in all haste right to the core of the inner teacher, to weigh any and every experience in its scales so as to determine its rightness or wrongness for you.
Once paved, this road is clear, and can be accessed not even in minutes but in seconds so that all life, everyday data, continuous experience can be perceived against its very helpful method.
The new human develops in several ways, one of which is definitely this new tool or power: to live continuously in touch with one's intuition, to forego emotional reactions and logical thought as the first response, and instead to listen deeply at every instance, and to become one with its teachings, insights, and understanding.
Yes, intuition is connected directly to the heart but it is not the same as the heart center. It is the avenue into the heart, for when one is fully in touch with one's inner teachings, these teachings lead always towards love. Towards the heart. And they lead away from fear.
It is a new vision and a growing power for all of humanity, and it is the arrival of the enlightened person who en masse is creating a new age.
