A PERSONAL NOTE
Hi,
Well, this was quite a month! Saturn entered Capricorn, its own sign, on the Winter Solstice (December 21st)... and my husband and I are both Caps... so we got slammed. Family emergencies demanded long-distance travel, stress was very high, and at the same time several amazingly good events happened as well. It was not a calm period, but there were also blessings. I won't go into detail, but let's just say it took all the journey's insights to stay centered, execute the tasks at hand, and do the Capricorn "responsibility" thing. There was much love and many prayers given, for which we feel very grateful.
But I wasn't sure I'd get this newsletter out. Nonetheless, here it is (in slightly truncated form).
If any insight was gained, it's to stay positive throughout one's travails because, if nothing else, that keeps your energy up and your emotions happy (or at least neutral). Often, it's more challenging than not to do so because of daunting circumstances. Stress can occur because of the situation itself (a funeral), or a crisis (a threatening disease), or it can arise from simple inconveniences (heavy fog on the road; not enough leg room in the airplane). One's inner state will be communicated to those around you, which will result in your affecting their frame of mind for better or worse. More importantly, your mindset will determine if you are in the flow, or not. If you are, everything will fall into place well, and the stressful situation will therefore become mitigated.
Everything we live through is our life test. Everything patterns our future (and future lives). We don't get a pass from karma! We're always in Earth School.
Be wise. Stay mindful. Be appreciative. Be kind and stay generous, no matter what's happening to you. If you do this, you'll get a Gold Star on the Karmic Ledger of life. And the Cosmic Director will give you an "A".

FEB. 2018 ASTRO TIDBITS
A lively pattern in the World horoscope ushers in the first week (
Venus sextile Uranus
). Mid-month is favorable for brilliant invention or innovation (
Mercury sextile Uranus
), perhaps a new start for communications and technology (
Solar Eclipse conjunct Mercury
). The dates of the 17th-18th are poor for saber-rattling (
Mars square Neptune
), but the 22nd is idealistic and lovely for romance (
Venus conjunct Neptune
). Much confusion and misunderstanding can color the 25th (
Mercury conjunct Neptune
).
For the United States, the push towards "America First" will remain significant until Spring 2019 (
U.S. progressed Moon in H1
). Days 1-3 indicate an abrupt pull-out regarding funding (
Uranus square U.S. Mercury/progressed Node
). After Week One, our national identity crisis begins to lessen (
Neptune leaves square to U.S. Ascendant
). On the 9th, the nation is blessed by extraordinary good fortune (

). Mid-month promises a stable economy (

BOOK REVIEW: "The World Before" - by Ruth Montgomery
(Fawcett Crest, 1976)
Ruth Montgomery! Back in the 70s and 80s, this intuitive prophet's writings evoked wonder and faith for the hopeful predictions about our future, given to us via her guided messages. Cla
iming secret lore of extremely ancient civilizations, and forecasts of the coming new age, this renowned prognosticator
testified that her guides as well as her beloved deceased colleague Arthur Ford communicated many truths to her through automatic writing as she rested her hands on her typewriter. Her books were bestsellers in the metaphysical field.
At first, I was excited to read this old book, full of stories of fallen Atlantis and Lemuria, the powerful Crystal technology, the deformed Creatures bred of humans and animals, and the catastrophic demise of these ancient continents resulting in the diaspora of culture to Egyptian and Mayan lands and the worldwide stories of a Great Flood. Dramatic and optimistic stuff!
Even though I, too, receive channeled messages from non-corporeal Guides, I retain skepticism. "Keep an open mind, but not so open that your brains fall out!" is a good motto.
Well, as I was reading the book, many inconsistencies cropped up. For example, to my knowledge "modern science" has never "corroborated grotesque half-human forms" such as mermaids, satyrs, unicorns, or centaurs (pages 22 and 30); another "earth-changing" cataclysm as well as a pole shift have not occurred at the end of the 20th century (pages 38-39); the Easter Island heads have been found to be full buried bodies and not just "priestly" levitated heads (page 46); evidence that before Atlantis there were not yet "divided sexes" has not been uncovered (page 70); nor has it been discovered that humans coexisted with dinosaurs (and that dinosaurs were still around as late as 60,000 years ago) (pages 58, 119), just to name a few. She even calls Bing Crosby "that joyous fellow" (page 212) when we now know he was terribly abusive to his children!
It's not that I utterly discard some implications. The magazine Fortean Times has featured articles with photos of an entire family, generations long, in present-day India if I remember right, whose bodies and even faces are covered with hair resembling dark fur. Geologists have written serious tracts on the obvious water erosion on the Sphinx, placing its sculpting in pre-dynastic Egypt when the Giza plateau was wet, well before a later pharaoh's head could have been carved. And there are plenty of similarities between geographically separated pyramidic structures that lend themselves to theories of an ancient diaspora. It's merely that, reading this material from the perspective of 2018, with so much political chaos and darkness afoot, with environmental challenges to our planet, with no space brothers yet appearing to aid us, and no drastic changes to the global footprint seen, one becomes skeptical in the extreme of Montgomery's claims.
My darling grandfather called such tales "bubbameisters" (old wives' tales, fairytales). This book is still fun to read - taken with a humungous grain of salt! - but simply reflects our not-so-long-ago naïve metaphysical frame of mind regarding "the future". Oh, how much we have been forced to grow, how much more anxious and cynical we have become, and how less gullible we must be to truly create the advanced new human that is still to come!

FIGURING OUT BEING ONE
We are seeing a change in the atmosphere. Dark emotions and over-sensitivity are giving way to sensible negotiations and a firming-up of goals, ideals, and life philosophies.
When one approaches the difficulties that arise from the dual nature of earth life, of the habitation of different bodily vehicles, and of the clashes that occur because of different enculturation, it becomes necessary to recognize the many-ness of the human experience and the fact that, in today's environment (meaning global, societal, and personal circumstances), there can be no such thing as the ideal of oneness. That is because this era of humanity's evolution has been designed to bring together the multitudes, to force to center stage the differences between people, the friction these differences generate, and the importance of finding the way to interact with wisdom, and yes, even love.
When differences engender friction, the outcome is often violence, anger, resistance, and lack of understanding or compassion. All of this is based primarily on emotion, but also with some element of intellect. The intellect provides the basis for certain beliefs, and then the emotions stir that, and are heightened in their response. However, when multitudes must live together or are forced to become one - one culture, one society, one nation - emotions and their supportive belief systems get in the way.
Humanity is realizing this.
The next step in this evolutionary journey is to figure out a different way, a way with less emotion and stridency, thus less anger and violence, a way that can recognize intense differences and yet figure out how to become one despite this. This is a task for ages, not for immediacy. Human beings, being dual, being so different in some cases as to feel worlds apart, yet must learn how to coexist, how to inhabit Planet Earth in harmony to each other and to the environment, and how to tolerate the many differences. None of this is news. It only underscores the hard task.
Against the backdrop of evolutionary processes, humanity is making strides, that being the subduing of dark emotionality and the switch to sensible negotiations. It will take much more time before the multitudinal expression of human life sees itself as one - one unit, one thing, one essence, one expression.
Do not lose heart, for the process is ongoing and is doing well.
