This week's Gospel: Parable of the Mustard Seed

Dear Friends,

As the transition to our new Pastor draws near, I am taking some time today to reflect on what I am feeling. (It also happens to be my birthday, which gives me an extra reason to set a few hours aside just to be grateful for another beautiful year on this planet surrounded by amazing people!) I find that I have many emotions. I feel excited about what is to come but also sad about what I am leaving. I feel relief at the prospect of not being responsible for some things, but it's also hard to let those things go. I can't wait to have more free time in my day, but then I wonder what will I do? My friends who have retired tell me they went through these stages themselves and that the transition will take me anywhere from three months to one year, depending on who I talk to! When I think of other transitions in my life, like moving from California to Rochester or having a baby or experiencing the death of family members, I think that has been true in the past. Adjusting to changes in our lives takes time. I deeply appreciate all the love and support you have given me this past month; it truly does help me as I go forward. It makes me want to provide the same support to you. I love being part of this community. I am looking forward to working on some creative events like planning retreats, meditations, forums, and trips that we can do together.

Our love goes out to Mary Beth Knowles whose brother, David, died suddenly last week. We send our condolences to Pat Hopkins on the death of Pat's brother. We send our love to Susan Mack on the death of her husband, Dave. Our condolences go to the family of Janet Luffman.

This comes with love,

Rev. Mary
