BIG SUR MARATHON SCHOLARSHIP ENTRY AVAILABLE

Sarah Koss ran her first marathon at the 2009 BSIM, along with her friend Aviva  Gilbert and the many strangers she high-fived along the way. Sarah went on to run many more races after her BSIM debut, even after receiving a brain cancer diagnosis. Sarah passed away at age 35 in August, 2016, having cheered on more runners than anyone could count.

Her friends would like to honor her memory and the impact of the BSIM on her life and identity as a runner by providing a free race entry to another young woman who wants to run BSIM on April 30, 2017. If you are a female marathoner under 40 who either didn't win an entry in last summer's registration drawings and/or are now interested in running, please send a short (150-200 word) note with your personal story to  [email protected]  by December 31, 2016. Sarah's friends will review submissions and reward one lucky runner with the free entry next month.

If you have any questions, please email  [email protected]

Good luck and thank you for your interest.
