The day we've been waiting for!
Grand Opening, Sat., April 14
|
Outdoor PB Courts will open to CTPA members immediately after the SportCourts dedication, Sat., April 14 at 9:00 AM in Graham Park, and will be open on a regular schedule. CTPA members will be able to play AFTER the dedication is completed.
Court Update:
Due to the weather, grass has not yet been planted, so if a pickleball goes outside the court fencing, please consider playing with another ball and leave that one in the dirt and pick it up when you leave. Please try to keep mud and dirt off the courts.
There are several issues with the court surface - line painting and very small surface bubble issues. Lines will be repainted as soon as possible, when the weather improves. We have approval to play on the courts and assessments are in process in regards to the surface. The contractor has assumed responsibility to ensure we have an excellent long-lasting and quality surface. We will update membership regarding the resolution of the surface issues. Until then, the courts are available for membership.
When can I play?
Almost any time! CTPA times are Monday to Friday, dawn to noon and 5:00 PM until dark. Weekend hours are dawn to 1:00 PM, and 5:00 PM until dark.
All other times are open for public play. A CTPA member may play during public time, but must play according to the public play rules.
Schedule on the website:
The courts will be available for play in three formats as described below. Beginning Monday, April 7, check the
CTPA Pickleball Membership
web page for two calendars -
“This Week”
and
“Next Week”
. Calendars will be updated each Monday.
If nothing is written in the specific hour slot, during CTPA times, it means the courts are open to Your Four Play.

IMPORTANT!
CTPA Members MUST display Membership Cards at ALL TIMES when playing. If you do not have your Membership Card, you cannot play.

We have over 275 members with another 50+ beginners registered for our PB-1 & Fast Track class. We expect to have over 300 members by July 1 and exceed 400 members by year's end. Based on 8 courts, we plan to limit CTPA membership to 400-425 members, to better manage court-wait time for members.

Beginning April 14
Three Formats for Outdoor Play
Level Play
If you have played indoor pickleball with CTPA, you are familiar with this type of play. People of your same rating level will meet during level play allowing you to decide how, as a group, you want to play. Ladders, round robin, practice/drills, winners stay on and split, or whatever your rating group wants to do to help improve your game and have fun. You can vary your play from day to day. Currently, all weekday PM hours are scheduled for level play of all ratings, every day. Upon arrival, you will be assigned a court or courts to play on, based on your ratings. Daytime and weekend Level play may be scheduled by the group's specified coordinator(s) only.
- Level play has the highest priority in court scheduling, and it is the format best suited to improve your game. As you play against your peers, it is a perfect opportunity to practice specific shots and hone your game. If your group chooses to meet weekly or daily, we will do our best to accommodate each rating group.
Level play guidelines
- Play must be all-inclusive, available, and known to all members of that rating group.
- Weekly schedules should be consistent so members may plan accordingly.
- Plan for the number of courts and the expected number of members who may attend. If you have an extra court at the start of your play, make the extra court available for “Your Four” players who may be playing during your session. If you consistently have extra courts available please reduce the requested court number.
- You cannot invite a player of a lower rating to join your level play; however, you may invite a player with a higher rating.
- Please start and end at the scheduled times.
- Display membership cards (photo out) on the court card racks. If you do not have your card, you cannot play.
Level Play is a membership benefit. You must use your own balls.
|
|
Leagues include Ladders, Fixed Doubles, Singles, and any other scheduled event that reserves court time for specific play.
- Usually associated our playing seasons. Spring, May-June; Summer, July-August; and Fall, September-October.
- There is a small charge to play in a league and balls will be provided. When leagues are listed, you may register through the Cranberry Township Parks & Recreation website.
- Membership cards must be displayed on the card display racks, on the fence post between courts. You cannot play if you do not have your membership card.
League details will be outlined at a later date.
Volunteers are needed to help manage a League. If you are interested, or want more information, contact:

Your Four Play (YFP) allows any four CTPA members, to play together, without rotating in new players. Play with friends of different ratings, or play competitively with players of the same rating.
Choose your foursome, and play together until all eight courts are filled and other foursomes are queueing, When your game ends, leave the court and call in the next foursome. Combine the four CTPA membership cards and queue on the designated queueing rank to play again.
- If people are queueing, the foursome will come off the court after finishing their game to 11, or win by two. When people are queueing, the court is used for play only and not for practice except for a brief warm-up.
- Singles can be played up to 8:30 AM on weekdays only during YFP and if people are waiting, the two singles players may queue their cards together just like a foursome until 8:15 AM. If courts are available after 8:30, and no group is queueing, then you may continue to play singles until the first group of four queues for the next game, at which point you must end your game immediately.
- You must display all FOUR membership cards (photo facing out) on the court on the card display racks mounted on the fence post between courts. If you do not have your membership cards, your group cannot play. In YFP, you must have FOUR membership cards on display to play! Refer to the penalty for all four players for using another CTPA member card instead of their own.
- Court times, where there is no level or league play scheduled, will be YFP on all available courts during scheduled Level Play and Leagues if they are not using all eight courts.
- If courts are to be used for Level Play or Leagues, you must give up your court 5 minutes before the start of level play & leagues, EVEN if your game is not finished. Do not ask the level play group or leagues to play on different courts so you can finish your game. League and Level play takes priority. If other courts are available for YFP, you may queue your cards to play on those courts.
- If your group includes 8 or 12 players, you can intermix players between groups on the queueing racks. For example, if Player A, B, C & D have their cards in the queue and players E, F, G, H are coming off the court, Players E & F, could take the place on the queueing racks of players C & D of the first group, and then Players C, D, G & H will queue their cards at the end of the queue. You cannot exchange all four players. Again, if players E, F, G, H are coming off the courts and player A, B, C, D decided not to play anymore and their cards are in the queueing racks, they cannot give up their space to Players E, F, G & H.
- If you have extra 1-3 players and wish to change players for the next game, and other foursomes are queueing, you must come off the court and set the next four cards who are playing together on the next available empty space on the queueing racks. The extra people in your group cannot save a queueing spot in the rack while you are playing. You must have all four players available and not playing, and then hang all four membership cards of the next four players on the queueing rack to play.
- You may finish your game if your time extends into public play times. But, if people are queueing, you must give up your court once you finish. You can continue to play but you must come off the court and then play under the public play rules. As soon as public time begins, you can no longer use the queueing racks, but you will queue with your paddles.
- Remember to pick up your membership cards.
YFP is a membership benefit. You must use your own balls.

Membership Cards
All CTPA members must have a valid CTPA membership card.
- Display cards (photo side out). As membership grows, we must be sure all people playing at CTPA times are members. If someone is not a member, please report them to Parks & Recreation or a CTPA volunteer who may be at the courts.
- Membership cards must be displayed on the fence post dividing the two courts. All four cards must be displayed separately on the four hooks associated with the court for all play formats.
- You will queue to play next with your membership cards during CTPA times on the designated queueing racks for Your Four Play.
- Membership cards cannot be loaned to non-CTPA or CTPA players who forgot their card. If this occurs, the member of the loaned card, and the person using it will forfeit membership for 6 months without a refund; and they cannot play during CTPA hours for 6 months. If a foursome in YFP, plays with a member who is not using their own membership card, all four members will forfeit their membership for six months. Members or guests using fake or expired guest passes will be subjected to the same penalty.
- There is a fee to replace a membership card.
