BHS GRADUATION RATE HIGHEST IN THE STATE FOR CLASSES LARGER THAN 200
2014 Indiana state graduation data was released by the DOE today. At 98.3%, the graduation rate for the Brownsburg High School Class of 2014 is tied for 28th overall (out of 400 high schools) and is the HIGHEST IN THE STATE in classes with more than 200 students. Last year's BHS graduating class was 534. Congratulations Team 2014! 
REGISTRATION FOR PRE-SCHOOL, K, AND NEW STUDENTS FOR 2015-2016 NOW OPEN ONLINE
Registration for new students for the 2015-2016 school year is now available online.  Kindergarten in Brownsburg is a full day program.  In order to register for kindergarten, students need to turn 5 years old by August 1, 2015.  We ask all parents of incoming kindergarten students to register as soon as possible.  This allows us time to meet students, provide building tours, and to staff accordingly.  

The Brownsburg Early Childhood Center is also available on online.  The BECC provides high quality early childhood programming for children ages 3-5.  A half day preschool program is offered for two, three, or five days a week.  The BECC also offers a full day child care program, which includes a half day of preschool.

Documentation necessary for Kindergarten enrollment will be:
      1.  birth certificate
      2.  immunization records  (2015-2016 Updated Requirements)
      3.  custody paperwork (if applicable)
      4.  proof of residency  (lease, closing paperwork on home, or a current utility bill)

NATIONAL SCHOOL BREAKFAST WEEK
March 2-6 is National School Breakfast Week.  Remember: Everyone is welcome at school breakfast at BCSC!  All schools offer breakfast directly after bus dismissal. If a child starts the school day at B.A.S.E. they may also participate in school breakfast.

A paid breakfast is $1.45 per day. Qualifications for free and reduced lunch also include breakfast. CLICK HERE for an application, menus, and more information. 
CORPORATION ART SHOW
Thank you to all who attended last week's Corporation Art Show acknowledging the talents of students from all over the district!  There were also fun family activities to celebrate creativity.




BHS RILEY DANCE MARATHON
At the end of Friday's Riley  Dance Marathon, Brownsburg High School has donated over $15,000 to Riley Hospital this year! Thank you to all who donated to the Dance Marathon and last fall's Riley Week!
BHS HISTORY CLUB HONORED BY HENDRICKS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
The BHS History Club was honored by the Hendricks County Commissioners at their February meeting for their amazing work on the Veterans Remembrance Memorial.   Seniors Riley Isch (r) and Lexi Green (l) received the "Organization Making a Difference in Hendricks County" award and a brass nameplate will be added to a plaque in the Hendricks County Building. 

DELAWARE TRAIL AND CARDINAL STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN INDIANA YOUTH ART MONTH KICKOFF
The Delaware Trail/Cardinal Choir Club performed at the Indiana Statehouse on Sunday to help kickoff Indiana Youth Art Month.  Art displays from several Delaware Trail students are also part of the month-long celebration at the Statehouse. 
BHS GERMAN STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN CONFERENCE
BHS students participated in Staatskongress, a state-wide competition for high school German students last month.  In addition to placing students in the top 3 in Quiz Bowl, Spelling, Sightreading and Club Scrapbook, the group also celebrated Ms. Jennifer Steed, who received the Judy Eaton Spirit Award.

READ ACROSS AMERICA WEEK
Students all over BCSC celebrate Read Across America Week which coincides with Dr. Seuss' birthday (March 2nd).  Students at Cardinal Elementary enjoyed green eggs and ham on Monday while kindergarten students from Reagan and Cardinal joined with their teachers last week for their annual Dr. Seuss night.  Oh the thinks you can think!

EAGLE STUDENTS ARE TOURISTS FOR A DAY
Third graders in Mrs. Uhler and Mrs. Wagler's classes were reading A Trip to Washington D.C. where they learned all about being a tourist and the interesting things you can see and learn along the way. They finished out last week's lesson with "Dress Like a Tourist" Day! Student projects also showed the different sites to see in our nation's capital.
BHS SHOW CHOIRS SHINE IN COMPETITIVE SEASON

In its first two competitions of the year, BHS' Starlight Voices (above) were named Grand Champions in their division.  Spotlight Singers & Company placed 4th and 2nd in the first two contests in the mixed division.  The all-female Bel Canto concert choir (below) was named Grand Champion concert choir in Saturday's Avon Vocal Invite.  Congratulations to the BHS Choir Department!
 
BHS ATHLETIC AMBASSADORS VISIT WHEELER MISSION
The BHS Athletic Ambassadors "Help the Homeless" community service project culminated in the delivery of donations to Wheeler Mission last week.  William Bumphus, Wheeler Mission's Assistant Director, took the Ambassadors on a tour of the facility.  It was powerful for the students to see how their donations are working for those in need.
THEATRE CAMP FOR GRADES 1-8 AT BHS THIS SATURDAY

WHAT: A full day of theatre fun including workshops in acting, singing, dancing, and stagecraft, plus an evening performance put on by the camp attendees.
WHEN: Saturday, March 7 from 9am to 5pm with a public performance from 5 to 6pm
WHERE: Brownsburg High School Performing Arts Department

WHY: To encourage creativity and teach students the art of theatre!

WHITE LICK JUGGLING MASTERS PUT ON AMAZING SHOW
For the 14th year, students at White Lick Elementary performed the tricks they learned as members of the Juggling Masters juggling club. Mr. Zach Kelley, Kinesiology teacher, is the leader of this club at White Lick. Students are able to sign up for the club starting in 3rd grade. They practiced before school, one day a week, for almost five months. The juggling season is over, but 3-year jugglers will also perform before a Pacer game, April 14 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
BECC ICE SKATING
Children in the Brownsburg Early Childhood Center enjoyed their annual "Ice Skating Party."  It's safer and warmer to conduct this event indoors - using shaving cream.
BCSC ENGINEERING SOCIETY
The snowstorm interrupted Team 3176's participation in a robotics competition over the weekend, but the BCSC Engineering Society is still hard at work for the next competition at Purdue, March 20-21.  They'll also participate in Saturday's Polar Bear Plunge at Eagle Creek Park.  CLICK HERE to donate to the cause.

PURDUE VARSITY GLEE CLUB CONCERT FEATURING BHS ALUMS - MARCH 6
