LAST YEAR'S ISTEP RESULTS RELEASED TODAY
On Friday, Students in grade 4 through 9 should have brought home a letter from the Indiana Department of Education.  This letter contains instructions and the "invitation code" needed to access last year's ISTEP+ results.  An email containing the code was also sent.  Students who did not attend Brownsburg Schools last year will receive the code from their previous school.
2015 PARENT AND GUARDIAN SURVEY RESULTS

Nearly 100% of parents in Brownsburg elementary and middle schools attended parent-teacher conferences earlier this month. Teachers provided important feedback from teachers about their student's progress and provided feedback to Brownsburg Schools through an anonymous paper survey. We're grateful to the 3,060 parents and guardians who completed the survey. Percentages reflect the number of respondents who strongly agree or agree with each statement.
DUKE ENERGY SPONSORS READING PROGRAM IN BCSC KINDERGARTEN CLASSES
Thanks to all of our volunteer readers at Real Men Read last month!  Through a grant from Duke Energy, all Brownsburg Kindergarten students listen to a story from one of our community leaders five times this year, and then they receive their own copy of the book! COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SESSION JANUARY 26, 2016, 6:30PM
Brownsburg is a great community with great schools! It's also a community and school corporation that is experiencing rapid growth. CONGRATULATIONS TO HARI - TOP 5 IN THE STATE!
Congratulations to senior Hari Sathyamurthy for placing 5th overall in the IHSAA state finals with a season-best time of 15 minutes and 28 seconds for the 3.1 mile course.  CLICK HERE to read more.

Way to go Sound of Brownsburg Marching Band & Guard!  They finished in the top 15 at Semi-State last weekend!
MIDDLE SCHOOL CHOIRS PRESENT THE LION KING
The Brownsburg 8th grade choir students presented three sold-out performances of Disney's The Lion King Jr. last weekend.  Special thanks to the scores of parents and volunteers who made costumes, prepared and served food, applied make-up, constructed sets, and helped with numerous aspects of this amazing show!

BHS ROBOTICS TEAM COMPETES OVER FALL BREAK
BHS Team 3176 (Robotics) competed over fall break and has been very busy this fall.  Students worked on the motorized window prop for the Peter Pan production at BHS, and also worked on a first generation t-shirt launcher for CHAIN Link.  On October 17, the team attended Southport High School's annual CAGEMatch competition.

VISUAL ARTS STUDENTS IN EXHIBITIONS

Eleven visual arts students will have their work selected for display at The Art IN Hand Gallery in Zionsville during the month of November.  Participating students are: Jesse Lindenfeld, Emma Kleinhenz, Kim Moore, Regan Gregg, Melea Brown, Kyla Maloney, Paighton Welch, Ben Cotton, Madison Clark, Allie Miller, and Olivia Ledezma.

Digital Design students Kaitlyn McCoy and Sky Williams have been accepted, out of hundreds of entries, for Purdue's "2nd Annual High School Student Art Competition and Exhibition." The online exhibition will be displayed on the Rueff Galleries website beginning November 16th with an awards ceremony to be held at the Rueff gallery on November 20th.

ORCHESTRA STUDENTS PERFORM WITH HENDRICKS SYMPHONY
Several middle school orchestra students participated in a side-by-side concert with Conductor Benjamin G. Del Vecchio and the Hendricks Symphony Orchestra over the weekend.  Each student was paired with a professional orchestra player and performed the Second Movement of Symphony No. 94 in C Major "Surprise" by Franz Josef Haydn. 
THANK YOU BROWNSBURG LIONS CLUB
We appreciate the Brownsburg Lions Club for conducting the annual state required vision screenings for grades 1, 3, 5, & 8 over the last two weeks. They will help to check the vision of over 2400 Brownsburg students in our schools during this process. 
BCSC FOOD AND CLOTHING PANTRY IS OPEN ON THE 1ST/3RD/5TH THURSDAY OF THE MONTH AT ALPHA
Life Skills students in the Collaborators for Success program at BHS have set up a food pantry that is open for Brownsburg School students.  Visitors can use door #7 at the ALPHA/Harris Academy building, 725 C South Green Street.  The pantry is open from 3:00-5:30pm on the 1st/3rd/5th Thursdays of the month and is staffed by BCSC volunteers.  If you would like to make a donation to the food pantry, please contact Tracy Damone at [email protected]
BHS HISTORY CLUB VISITS BOSTON
The BHS History Club explored historic sites in Boston over Fall Break.  Mrs. Crone and Mr. Baldwin chaperoned the group to the USS Constitution, Bunker Hill Monument, JFK's birthplace, and are pictured above at Harvard Yard. 
BBOP MUSICAL BREAKFAST WITH SANTA RESERVATIONS
The Brownsburg Band and Orchestra Parents (BBOP) invite you to their annual Musical Breakfast with Santa - SATURDAY, December 5th from 7am-11am at West Middle School.  Make your reservations now through December 1st. CLICK HERE for a form and more information.  
BHS DECA HELPS DELIVER FROM THE NORTH POLE
The DECA students at BHS will help deliver letters from Santa to Brownsburg!  CLICK HERE to find the form and help them raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  (Deadline: December 11) 
NOMINATE SOMEONE FOR THE BICENTENNIAL TORCH RELAY
In 2016, Indiana celebrates its Bicentennial with many exciting activities throughout the state.  The nomination committee is looking for torch bearers for the Hendricks County leg of the Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay.  The Torch Relay was created to honor Hoosiers who have demonstrated exceptional public service, achievement, acts of heroism and/or volunteer service to their neighborhood, community, region or state. Torchbearers will be Hoosiers, representing all walks of life. More than 1,800 torchbearers will be selected to carry the torch. A juried nomination process will be employed in each county to select torchbearers. Torchbearers will carry the torch in their county of nomination.

VISION BCSC CLASS OF 2016 ACCEPTED
Since it began in January of 2007, Vision BCSC has given the community an opportunity to take part in an interactive, in-depth ten month learning experience. Meetings occur once a month on Thursday mornings at various school buildings from 8am-10:30am.  Participants representing all areas of our community will go "behind the scenes," meet the people who are responsible for programs and services, and see first-hand how the amazing teachers and staff create a climate of success for a growing student population.  CLICK HERE to register and learn more about Vision BCSC.   Deadline is December 1, 2015. 
BHS MADRIGAL DINNER - DECEMBER 8, 9, 10
Mark your calendars for a Brownsburg holiday tradition - the BHS Madrigal dinner - December 8, 9, & 10.  The Madrigal Dinner is an evening of delicious food, entertainment and awe-inspiring music.  The meal is catered by Dawson's Too Sticks and Stones.  Tickets are $25 for dinner and entertainment and are available to the public starting November 19th in the Fine Arts Office (while they last.)
