TEAM 3176 ROBOTICS WINS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP 
BHS Robotics (Team 3176) just returned from the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS after being part of the winning alliance at the Indiana State Competition last month! This was their 3rd trip to the World Championships, but the first time qualifying on robot merit.  CLICK HERE to see BHS-TV's coverage of the State Championship and a World Championship preview!  
   
GRADUATION INFORMATION

The 118th Commencement at Brownsburg High School will take place Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 10am at C.F. Roark Stadium.  Families can find more information on the Team 2017 page - CLICK HERE.

2018-2019 CALENDAR APPROVED

At the April 10th meeting of the Brownsburg Board of School Trustees, the calendar for the 2018-2019 school year was approved.  CLICK HERE for a link to this calendar (2017-18 too.)  


Congratulations to the four National Merit Scholarship Finalists from Brownsburg High School: (l to r) Andrew Fulwider, Julie Bahr, Samantha Smock and Rebecca Sims are in a group of less than 15,000 high school seniors selected for this honor due to excellence on the PSAT.
  KINDERGARTEN AND NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION FOR 2017-2018

Online registration is now open f or NEW students for the 2017-2018 school year. Current students who will be returning do not need to register online. INDIANA ACADEMIC ALL-STAR

Each year the Indiana Association of School Principals recognizes 40 high school seniors in its list of Indiana Academic All-Stars.  These students are selected based on many factors including GPA, SAT/ACT, leadership, community service, extra-curricular activities and letters of recommendation.  Brownsburg senior Julie Bahr was named to this list of exceptional students.  Julie was selected from a group of 266 state-wide nominees and honored at a reception last week.   After graduation, Julie will attend the University of Oklahoma and major in English and Spanish with plans to attend law school.  CLICK HERE to read more about the Academic-All Stars and see the entire list.
 


The BHS DECA chapter recently competed at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Anaheim, California, returning with a record number of individual and chapter awards.
The following students advanced in their events to the Finals at ICDC:

BHS CONSTRUCTION NEWS

Parents in grades 6-12 are now receiving regular updates about the renovation and expansion project at Brownsburg High School.  These updates will provide important information as this project moves forward.  Phase 1B is now underway and will provide a new heating, cooling, and electrical facility in the area around the current BHS cafeteria.  Anyone can sign up for these quarterly updates with the next one set for next week - CLICK HERE to sign up and see an archive of past updates.

LINCOLN ELEMENTARY CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Construction on Lincoln Elementary is underway on the land south of Reagan Elementary.  This new elementary will be connected to Reagan and is set to open in July of 2018. 


Reagan Elementary had over 400 registered runners in its first annual Color Run last month.  The event raised money to support Reagan's Relay for Life team.  THANK YOU to all who participated and volunteered!

NJHS INDUCTEES

The National Junior Honor Society at East Middle School welcomed 73 new members and West Middle School inducted 98 new members at their annual induction ceremonies.  NJHS has rigorous requirements that all students must meet to be inducted.  To be considered, students must have at least a 3.8 GPA and excel in the areas of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character.


HOSA students attended the State Conference for this club for future health professionals.  Five students earned the right to compete at the International competition this summer in Orlando. 
A huge crowd enjoyed music from the combined BHS/BEMS/BWMS bands at the Varsity Fieldhouse on Sunday.
ASTRONOMY FUN NIGHT FOR ELEMENTARY FAMILIES
 
Parents and students grades 1-5:  You are invited to Brownsburg High School on Friday May 5, at 7:30 PM to Astronomy Fun Night, hosted by the BHS Astronomy Club and science faculty.  Students and families will experience 3D tours, crafts, activities, and telescope viewing.  Enter the High School at Door 1 and follow the signs back to the cafeteria.  Indoor activities will run from 7:30-8:30 and telescope viewing will be available from 8:30-9:30, weather permitting. 

These BHS students who spend part of their day at Area 31 Career Center were honored as students of the quarter this year. They were also commended by the BCSC Board of School Trustees at the April meeting.  Dalton Kline (Construction Trades), Kris Clore (Heating & Air), Kaly Stevens (Co-Op, not pictured), Caitlin Morton (Pharm Tech), Zach Harshman (Radio Broadcasting), Austin Rinker (Construction Trades), and Richard Bullock (Welding). Taylor Woods (Pharmacy) joined Bullock and Morton to be commended for induction into the National Technical Honor Society at Area 31.
ELEMENTARY TRACK MEET - MAY 3, 5pm

BHS will hold its annual Elementary Track Meet this Wednesday.  Students in grades 1-5 can run the 100m, 200m, 400m, 1600m or participate in the long jump.  The elementary school with the most participants will win a school trophy.  CLICK HERE to register. 

CARDINAL FEATURED IN BOX TOPS VIDEO
A camera crew visited with Cardinal Elementary students and art teacher Cassy Conner to learn more about the new kiln that will be installed at Cardinal this summer.  The purchase was made thanks to Box Top donations coordinated by PSG member Cheryl Albrecht and the video will be featured in a campaign this summer.  We'll keep you posted!
