BROWN ELEMENTARY IS A NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL

U.S. Secretary of Education, John B. King, Jr., announced last week that Brown Elementary has been named a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School. Brown is one among 279 public and 50 private schools receiving this honor. Congratulations to the teachers, staff, students, and families for working together to help Brown Elementary students achieve great things!

National Merit Honors Thirteen BHS Seniors
|
Of the 1.5 million high school juniors who enter the
National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT, five Bulldogs are among the 16,000 students nationwide who were named National Merit Semifinalists. Congratulations to BHS seniors Julie Bahr, Andrew Fulwider, Rebecca Sims, Samantha Smock, and John Vermeulen. Eight BHS seniors were also honored as Commended Scholars: Jennifer Abel, Abigail Bohrer, Jacob Bosse, Matthew Copeland, Spencer Douglas, Jesse Lindenfeld, Mia Romine, Taylor Traut.

RECORD NUMBER OF AP SCHOLARS AT BHS
A record number of Brownsburg High School students achieved the distinction of AP Scholar. AP Scholars are students who scored a 3 or higher on at least 3 different AP exams. There were 85 recent BHS graduates joining these 63 current juniors and seniors (pictured above) to give BHS a total of 148 AP Scholars. BHS INTERACT CLUB WILL ACCEPT FLOWER VASES
The Interact Club at Brownsburg High School is participating in a project called a Random Act of Flowers. This is a project where the focus is to collect vases in order to deliver flowers to long-time patients in hospitals throughout our community. If you are interested in helping someone in need and making someone smile, please donate unwanted flower vases to the Interact Club. There are donation boxes throughout the school cooperation but you can find the main drop-off center in the main office of Brownsburg High School.

APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR 2017 VISION BCSC CLASS
We invite you to learn more about all aspects of the Brownsburg Community School Corporation in a fun and exciting format with the Vision BCSC program. Since it began in January of 2007, Vision BCSC has given people representing all areas of our community the opportunity to take part in an interactive, in-depth ten-month learning experience. Participants go "behind the scenes," meet the people who are responsible for programs and services, and see first-hand how the Corporation creates a climate of success for our growing student population.

The Vision BCSC Class of 2017 will meet ten times between January and November for approximately two and a half hours once a month. Meetings will occur on Thursday mornings at various school buildings. Vision BCSC is a key opportunity for us to provide you with an unprecedented level of understanding about this School Corporation and for you to provide us with a community perspective of what we do at BCSC.

FORD DRIVE FOR YOUR SCHOOL THANKS
THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the Ford Drive 4 UR School event on September 8th at East Middle School. In that short 5 hours, $22,350 was raised for the Brownsburg Education Foundation. We are grateful to everyone who was able to take a few minutes to come over and drive a car! Thank you also to the Brownsburg Kiwanis Club and the BHS Key Club for their help as well as the many local businesses who pledged a dollar amount per drive.
