Princeton EHS Honored at CSHEMA

Princeton EHS has been awarded the Complete Safety Award of Honor at the CSHEMA 2018 Annual Conference in Baltimore.   This is the highest institutional honor bestowed by CSHEMA, the pre-eminent organization serving EHS in higher education.

To be considered for this award, EHS offices must submit a lengthy portfolio describing in detail the programs, policies and procedures involved in a number of health and safety initiatives.

EHS Director Robin Izzo Named ACS Fellow

EHS Director Robin Izzo has been named a fellow of the American Chemical Society’s Chemical Health and Safety Division . Izzo, who has authored or contributed to several books on laboratory safety, has been a longtime contributor to ACS initiatives on standards, tools, policy statements and symposia.
TigerSafe App Covers Commencement

Working with Public Safety, the Office of Alumni Affairs and others, EHS created a custom commencement feature for Princeton's TigerSafe health and safety app . The section included maps of simulcast viewing and shelter locations, emergency preparedness and transportation information and links to event guides.
Nassau Hall Project Highlights Health, Safety During Construction
Nassau Hall is undergoing restoration through March 2019. While dust and noise levels are not expected to pose a hazard, EHS will conduct periodic air quality testing and Facilities staff will carry out additional interior cleanings.

Waste Management

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) coordinates the hazardous waste program on campus. Procedures differ depending on whether you are generating chemical, biological/medical or radioactive waste.

Training Requirements

All faculty, staff, students and visiting researchers working in labs are required to attend Laboratory Safety Training. Researchers attend a general session plus training specific to their laboratory.
