Thanks to all who came out to celebrate at West Park's annual homecoming last Saturday, May 9. Clear weather prevailed, prompting a crowd estimated at 30,000 to enjoy The Hooley? -- an iconic day of live music, festival food, entertainment, and activities for all ages. Annual Town Meeting returns to St. Joseph Academy, Tuesday, June 16.
38th Annual Town Meeting on Tuesday, June 16, at St. Joseph Academy, 3470 Rocky River Drive. Sign-in starts at 6:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. program.

The evening's agenda includes updates on neighborhood initiatives including the proposed Business Improvement District for "Downtown Kamm's Corners," the Rocky River Drive Master Plan project, renovation of the Alber Building, and our discussions with Bellaire Puritas Development Corporation around a Strategic Alliance. Councilman Marty Keane will provide news about city-related issues, and the West Park Historical Society will give a brief presentation on the origin of West Park.

Bring your blankets and lawn chairs to Asphalt Cinema!
Reserve the third Friday of June, July, and August for an evening of music, art, games, and prizes that ends under the stars with a family friendly movie all at Impett Park, 3207 West 153rd Street. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets! The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. It's free, thanks to our sponsors, Fairview Hospital and Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. Concessions will be available for purchase. West Park Gardens Needed for GardenWalk Cleveland

farms, vineyards, and orchards in various Cleveland neighborhoods takes place the weekend of July 11 and 12, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Showcase your home  garden. It doesn't have to be huge or elaborate. Simple excellence is fine, featuring shaded nooks and interesting garden creations, fruits and vegetables, herbs and rocks, or a wide variety of plants and flowers. It's West Park's first time participating in GardenWalk Cleveland, so let's show the region what beautiful gardens we have!

West Park Kiwanis Club Independence Day Parade applications are now available.

Download the parade application here to participate in this popular parade, stepping off at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 4. Please note that fees have increased and must be received by the West Park Kiwanis Club on or before June 20. The Parade Marshall this year is Mary Ann Corrigan-Davis, President of St. Joseph Academy. The National Anthem will be performed by West Park resident Carol Silvay, who is a cantor at St. Patrick Church and volunteer at the Kamm's Corners Farmers Market. KeyBank Employees Make a Difference in Cleaning Up Memorial Walkway

community service project on Wednesday, May 13, as part of the Neighbors Make the Difference Day. They met at the West Park Cleveland Police and Firefighters Memorial on Rocky River Drive overlooking the Metroparks and swept away the old leaves and debris from the one-third mile walkway.

 

Neighbors Make the Difference Day is sponsored by KeyBank, and it is part of a national movement across the country where KeyBank employees join in on volunteerism with local non-profits in the community. Our thanks goes out to this group for the great service they performed for the community!

The Cleveland Department of Aging presents Senior Day on Wednesday, May 20, at Cleveland Public Hall, 500 Lakeside Avenue. An information fair starts at 10 a.m. with a program at 11 a.m. followed by lunch at noon. Entertainment begins at 12:30 p.m. The event is free of charge! For more information, call 216-664-2833.

The annual "Earn Your Spots Jaguar 5K Race and 1-Mile Walk" for St. Joseph Academy takes place on Monday, May 25. See details and register online here.

AMP Fest is an infusion of local cuisine, spirits, and music, taking place on Friday, May 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. at AMP 150, 4277 West 150th Street. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for this exclusive tasting. Tickets are $45. The Westies will perform. See the flyer for details or purchase tickets here.

Age Line Home Health & Adult Daycare Services, 4350 Rocky River Drive, is now collecting donations for its annual porch sale fundraiser. Eliminate your clutter for a good cause! To donate desirable items, drop them off between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. The porch sale is Friday, June 12.

The West Park Family Branch of the YMCA invites you to play golf with them at a fundraiser on Friday, June 26, at Hickory Nut Golf Course. Money raised will be used to support a scholarship program to ensure nobody is turned away from the Y's programs for lack of funds. See details here.

Bike Night has begun at Red Lantern Kitchen & Bar, 17446 Lorain Avenue, inside Kamms Plaza. Each customer who rides a bicycle to Red Lantern on Monday receives a "passport" with points earned for purchases through July. Call 216-331-1458 for details.

On the evening of May 13, approximately 50 people attended a community meeting at St. Patrick's Church for a presentation of the preliminary recommendations for a new plan for Rocky River Drive (from Lorain Avenue to Brookpark Road). In response to requests from neighborhood residents, the meeting was convened to give the community a second opportunity to review and comment on the plan's preliminary recommendations. Community Partners for Arts and Culture is offering $15,000 in Fellowships to 40 artists who create art in any discipline within Cuyahoga County. Click here for details.
