Meet 2016 Distinguished Alumnus Lance Williams

Lance Williams has been extremely productive since graduating from the CBA in 1991. About 20 years ago, he founded Williams Homes and today the company is currently developing 27 communities. Williams also makes time to serve on the Dean's Advisory Council and participate in the CBA's Executive Mentor Program, which led the Cal Poly Pomona Alumni Association to recognize him with the 2016 Distinguished Alumni. Erik Rolland Selected as CBA's Next Dean

Following an international search, Erik Rolland has been selected to serve as the new dean for the College of Business Administration, beginning July 1. He is currently the special assistant to the provost, and professor of management within the Ernest & Julio Gallo Management Program and the School of Engineering at the University of California, Merced.

Human Resources Students Win SHRM Competition

Five human resources students traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah to put Cal Poly Pomona back in the winner's circle of a prestigious Society for Human Resources Management case competition for the first time since 2011. Cybersecurity Team Makes Nationals

Cal Poly Pomona's cybersecurity team made newspaper headlines when it advanced past schools like UC Berkley and Stanford to represent the western region at the College Cyber Defense Competition Finals in San Antonio, Texas. Seven of the team's eight members were from the CBA's CIS department. In addition to local and school newspapers, the school also ran this article on its main website.

In nearly three decades with us as a business professor, Warren Weber touched many of our lives personally, professionally and academically. It's with a heavy heart that we inform you of his passing on March 13, 2016 in Palm Springs, Calif. Weber's many administrative contributions to the CBA includes time as chair of the management and human resources department and director of graduate programs. His obituary is posted in our news section.

Bronco Startup Challenge Attracts Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Ten teams of aspiring entrepreneurs pitched their product ideas to a panel of judges for a chance to win prizes and donor-funded seed money worth $10,000 at the fifth annual Bronco Startup Challenge. Finalists included a water-saving shower device and a motorized scooter that can fold down and fit into a backpack. Descriptions of each entry and a photo gallery are available here 
Marketing Grad Makes WSJ

Before Justin Rezvani graduated in 2011, he had already left a mark on campus by starting a chapter of the American Marketing Association. Rezvani was recently profiled in the Wall Street Journal, when the company he founded less than five years ago was acquired by You & Mrs. Jones.
