By the Garden

Hang and organize garden tools, hats and baskets on the back wall of a shed

or garage for easy access by the garden.

Add a stone drainage path from the gutter spout that usually forms a large wet puddle.  Border small stones with larger cobblestones and enhance with plantings and potted florals to guide the drainage away from the house that's also pleasing to the eye.

Our Project of the Month:
Prepping for the Patio!
Redesign your Vintage Iron Patio Set to fit your home decor!

Before....

After!

Shop antique, used and vintage shops to find an old iron patio set that you can spruce up for spring and summer use on you porch or patio.  An easy DIY upholstery job on the seat fabric to an all-weather or vinyl fabric will last through the rain if need be.  More stylish finds are all around you when "shopping vintage".

Recipe of the Month:

Watermelon, Heirloom Tomato, and Feta Salad

This gorgeous watermelon, tomato, and feta salad pops with color and flavor and is perfect for springtime meals.  You can use any combo of fresh herbs; like a mixture of mint, basil, parsley, and chives.

Ingredients:
  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons chopped mixed fresh herbs
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 4 heirloom tomatoes, cut into chunks
  • 1 cup (1-inch) cubed red seedless watermelon
  • 1 cup (1-inch) cubed seeded yellow watermelon
  • 1/4 cup vertically sliced red onion
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese

Whisk together the extra-virgin olive oil, chopped mixed fresh herbs, lemon juice and the kosher salt in a large bowl. Next, add tomato, watermelon, and onion; toss to coat. Sprinkle with cheese; toss gently.

What We're Loving Now...

ReCycle, RePurpose, ReUse!

Turn an old vintage shutter into a useful magazine or mail rack. Or give the shutters a disstress look by using a sand cloth and make them into a rustic plant stand or outdoor side table!

Here's another idea...

Use shutters as a coat rack by mounting a shelf on top and adding a few hooks. Or add them as doors to cover up that dreaded cork board in your kitchen!

Send an email to ddaley@daleydesigns.com and let us know your re-purposing ideas!  We'd love share them!

Give Back
GIVING BACK
Spring cleaning is here and giving back is a great way to clear out the clutter, be stylish, be healthy, and kick-start your year! Not to mention helping someone else out and making yourself feel good. There are many ways to help out. Here are some that we like.

Donating  food to your local food pantry is a great way to help those in need during the upcoming holidays.

Belle Of the Ball

Prom season is just around the corner! Belle of the Ball gives you another chance to put your past prom dresses to use and keep those priceless memories going for others! If you have gently used dresses that could be donated, this is a  great way to help out. ACG Strathallan is holding their 9th annual fundraising event for the Senior Ball; the 'Belle of the Ball'.
