Public Hearing on Frazer Twp. Compressor Station--Oral Comment Deadline Tomorrow

Allegheny County could soon receive its first Marcellus compressor station, in Frazer Township near the Pittsburgh Mills mall. Due to public interest in the proposal, the Allegheny County Health Department extended their comment period to 3/27 and is holding a public meeting on that day as well, where citizens can give testimony orally. The deadline to sign up for a speaking slot is 4 PM on Thursday, 3/23; call Edina Savage at (412) 578-8115 to set up your speaking time. Urban Green Growth Collaborative meeting

There's a lot happening in and around our new neighborhood, including the 33rd community gathering of the Urban Green Growth Collaborative (UGGC). The UGGC works to engage inner city residents with green, hands-on development activities. ACHD To Talk About Shenango Coke Works & Local Air Quality

The Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) will hold a public meeting on 4/4 in Bellevue to discuss Shenango Coke woks and local air quality in general. Residents of Bellevue and all nearby communities are encouraged to attend. There will be an opportunity for questions and comments as well. Pencils Ready? Time for Smoke School!

Every six months, GASP staff and friends get certified to use their eyes to make observations of smokestack emissions. We then go to facilities of concern in our communities all across the region. Recent reports done by our Smoke Readers have led to increased pressure on the Shenango Coke Works. Come for this free (for Allegheny County residents) training and learn a nice, easy skill set that can help us keep a closer tab on local industry.
