Spring Training for Dogs

Saturday, April 2nd - May 14th from 10-11 am
Beginner Manners Group Class - $125 for 6, 60 minute classes
This class focuses primarily on manners. We take time to problem solve unique pet behaviors and teach fun tricks. Perfect for dogs who are recently adopted, need a refresher, or are new to training. We cover commands such as sit, down, place, stay, leave it and more!

Saturday, April 2nd - May 7th from 12-1 pm
Continued Introductory Agility Group Class - $150 for 5, 60 minute classes
Agility is a great way to bond, exercise and train your dog. The focus of this class is to encourage your dog to jump, weave, run through tunnels all while listening, learning and having fun! Because this class is interactive, we ask for well-socialized dogs. 

Saturday, April 2nd- May 7th from 1:30-2:30 pm
Intro. to K-9 Nose Work Group Class - $125 for 5, 60 minute classes
K-9 Nose Work is a dog sport that utilizes a dogs natural searching and hunting abilities. Inspired by working detection dogs, this class teaches dogs to hunt for their favorite scent or toy among boxes. Target odors are introduced to make it more challenging. As each dog progresses the search becomes more difficult when we take it outside, add new containers, expand to full rooms and even to vehicles! The structure of this class is such that each dog works independently, it a great option for shy, nervous, newly adopted or reactive dogs. 

Saturday, April 2nd - May 14th from 3-4 pm
Canine Good Citizen Certification - $150 for 6, 60 minute classes
The American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen program encourages responsible pet ownership and good manners for dogs. For many, this is the first step in becoming a therapy dog. This class offers the training needed to pass the certification. From sitting politely for greeting, obedience and supervised separation, this class will help guide you and your dog in the direction to becoming a Canine Good Citizen. Test is included in the class. 

Private consultations available by appointment
Initial consultation $60/60 minutes
Subsequent consultations $60/60 minutes or $30/30 minutes

Free 
Shelter Dog Walking Orientation 
Designed for volunteers who aspire to walk shelter dogs at LRHS. This orientation focuses on how to properly fit collars and harnesses, read dog body language and stay safe in a kennel environment. It is the first step in becoming a "Certified Dog Walker". 

Saturday, March 19th, 11-12:30 pm 
"Canine Learning Theory: How Dogs Learn"
Free to current LRHS dog walking volunteers - $5 suggested donation for guests. 
       Canines learn in a multitude of ways all of which can be completely misunderstood by the human world. This presentation will go over the concepts behind teaching a dog new behavior and understanding best methods for effective communication with dogs. From classical to operant conditioning, the use of clickers and tone of voice, attendees will leave with a firm understanding of the science and methods behind training mans best friend.
